You know ,I was studying with someone who was a Jw and came to this forum thinking it was a jw thing and found something I didnt count on and that was people that had bee there in it and saw it for what it was.I read so mant posts and realized that I could never ever live like that pushing things on people instead of really living in a way that mattered To all people that are lurking and still Jw I hope that maybe you will think about being honest instead of being trusting I cant help but feel that stepping back is something too few people do in any aspect of life and the feeling I have about being fed a line of crap must be pretty minor compared to the lifers out there who woke up I realized there was no way I could ever be a jw The whole time I was studying I was struggling with my own common sense that kept whispering to me that what I was hearing could really be coming from a grown man of approx. 50 years of age Being true to yourself will keep you happy If you are living a lie your life will be meaningless and desperate the erosion of all that is good in you is inevitable secrets kill slowly and its no kind of life Complete honesty takes courage and strength but it is the only way to live I dont wont to sound preachy and I apolgize if I do > But Im really relieved that I only had a close call< I feel as if jws prey on peoples good intentions and desire to live a good life As anti jw as this must sound Let your consience be your guide.( is that how you spell consience?)

[57]1917: in 1918, god would begin to destroy churches "wholesale" and church members by the millions.

Didnt Jesus say " only the Father knows the end of days?" Why do people who believe the bible make predictions? Why golly thats a contradiction surely Im mistaken?

WHAT do YOU know about JESUS... and His teachings?
by hibiscusfire ini am interested to know what you know about jesus and what you really think of his teachings.. the bible says there is only one way to heaven.. jesus said: "i am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me.
" (john 14:6) .
the lord jesus was crucified and shed his precious blood to wipe away our sins (revelation 1:5).

>>>serotonin-wraith<<<<<<yes I know he didnt give up his exsistence just his flesh Im just saying the message behind Jesus is one of selflessness and rightousness forgivrness hope and probably a couple of other positive things I believe his knowledge of a prior spiritual exsistence gave him leg up on the common man so perfection was probably reached through a certainty of knowledge rather than any faith so I think we are at a disadvantage. I tried to answer "what do you know " not what do you believe . I cant really get behind any system of beliefs that is put forth by man . We are all pissing in the wind (exscuse me) and in the dark . Proving a profound personal experience to an another person is a fools errand . I seek the truth that works for me just like everyone else ( well almost everyone) I enjoyed your outlook on bias and wonder what your " truth " might be

I believe Jesus wanted us to understand his sacrifice He wanted us to feel genuine love for our fellow humans He wants us to love God his father with all are heart ,spirit ,flesh and mind. If we could comprehend how a man could willingly give up his life and endure horrible torture for the sake of all even the most unrepentent person . If we can do these things Jesus got the message across. If you can feel the compasssion in your your heart to lay down your life for another I think maybe that is how Jesus would like us to live .Imagine all the people living for each other acting like Jesus did that would be something . Living as Jesus would approve really gets your mind in a positive place although I must admit I fall short almost daily

What happens when we die?
by Tatiana inis death an end, a beginning, or just another stage on the path?
i watched a movie last night called the eye 2. it was about the buddhist belief in reincarnation.
in the movie, souls wait for women to give birth in order to reincarnate into the baby.

I have thought LONG and LONG about death and life and I have come to some thoughts that seem to feel right to me . That our life force, actually all life force comes from the same source and we are all really just little pieces of the same conciousness that just chose to impart itself to all of creation .When our flesh is exhasted our life force is reabsorbed and we become part of something greater than we can possible imagine. I read somewhere once that life is the part of the universe that is reflecting back on itself so it can determine what it is . Obviously we are all part of something vastly huge ,complicated and impossible to fully comprehend even on this plane of existence. The hopeless feeling that all of this is mere happenstance is only an idea born from a lack of time spent truly comptemplating our reality. All the animals in the world have instincts hardwired into them to behave a certain way, none of these instincts are frivolous or wasted. People have an instinct to find meaning in life and death this is certainly for a reason. We are meant to seek meaning and to seek for spirituality for a reason. I choose to believe there is more because we would not be here wondering if there was more if there wasnt.Call me sophist if you wish . I was also thinking of why God lets bad things happen . If you where a game warden and you could take all the animals and put them in safe cages where nothing bad could happen to them would you? We think nature left alone is a beautifull thing but it is full of bad things happening but it is in balance and all the creatures are free.

drugs or religeon
by blueviceroy ini ask myself which is more harmful slavish devotion to chemicals (which is openly discouraged) or slavish devotion to a system of beliefs which is most often encouraged .
i understand the motivations behind doing something that defies common sense and fighting with your last bit of will to continue on a certain course no matter what your concious says.
us recovering from addiction understand it completely.

blueviceroy
Yes you are right not all religeons are cults sorry about that sometimes i cant express myself as well as i would like .
