Where does it say you can't attend study meetings in private homes?
Good Question.
If the man in Corinth wasn't allowed, then he got 'reinstated' without attending meetings.

the watchtower claims that the practice of shunning is/was:.

I might just send off a hundred copies of this to some individuals I know and to every cong in CO and AZ. I could do that, it would be easy.

hi everyone,.
a letter has been prepared by anonymous brothers to be sent to bodies of elders around the world.. of course this is a massive undertaking and we are asking for assistance from active and inactive ones around the world who share the sentiments of the letters contents.. your participation in this action indicates your sincere desire to see change within the organization that has become authoritarian in recent years.. we ask that the letter be addressed to "the body of elders" in each respective congregation.. please do not add any further information or commentary.. we are also relying on non-english speaking brothers to translate and distribute this letter.. it will not matter if more than one letter is received by each congregation.
.
IT Support,
I'm glad to have you on board with this.
Your revision has my vote.
I particularly like the additional stuff on the UN.

most who end up questioning the org eventully realize there is just to much wrong that can be changed.
If we can get some to realize this and withdraw their support; mission accomplished.

Can more of us volunteer to send the letter if furnished with names and addresses?
Like Tula, I think it is a great idea to try to wake up the 'little people' to start them asking questions.

Hi Tula,
"I have an idea. Why not "write in" the (congregation of name, town) or a name of elder in that congregation.....and send letters to the little people, too. That's right. Send some of these letters to congregation members. Maybe they will think it is a piece of misdirected mail. In the meantime, it is so nicely and professionally worded, that of course they will read it. Maybe it will even get through to some. Of course, you know they will discuss it with their friends. Get them involved in doing the work of questioning the elders about it! Ha! How are the elders going to not answer to it and be called to account now??!! Why put all of the power into the hands of the few elite. Give the people back their power!!!"
I think this is an excellent idea you have. I think it might actually help some of the R&F to become aware of some things they are oblivious to.
For those of us who have no list of members addresses, where can we get them from a local source?
Any ideas would be appreciated as I have stamps, envelopes, and copy machine.
If I send you some names and addresses could you send them the letter. If I send them, I fear that I would come under suspicion if they are postmarked from anywhere in my area. Could I ask what state you would send them from?
Just as when we were hard working dubs, even though we know most will not respond favorably, if we can help any to be set free, I think it is worth the effort.
I am also sending you a pm.

i am currently researching a graduate paper about the jehovah's witnesses and the recent "new light" on the application and interpretation of the 1914 "this generation shall not pass away" teaching.. i am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was active in the watchtower society during the period in which this doctrine was reworked -- specifically the mid-1990s.
i am interested to learn how this change was made known to members; the impact it had on congregations; how much congregational discussion there was about it; the impact on members and membership; if it sowed seeds of doubt in member's mind, etc.. any help anyone can offer is most appreciated.
i may be reached at [email protected].
while I would need to know who you are and some biographical details,
Why? Many of us will not reveal this information as our real identity must remain anonymous.
I am a graduate student in religion and find the Witnesses of great interest and particularly the recent re-interpretation of the 1914 generation teaching.
I highly recommend that you get the book CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE written by Ray Franz who was a member of the small group of men in New York who direct this entire organization. He devotes an entire chapter to this teaching and the history of it's change. (It was the first chapter I read).
You might get it from your library or you can order it online.
If you ''find the Witnesses of great interest'' You will find much information here of great interest with dates, names, copies of letters, and quotes from WT publications for support on various subjects. Well worth whatever it takes for you to get a copy.

being in "the truth" forever, i keep (frustratingly) finding myself humming kingdom songs unintentionally.
it frustrates me when i find myself doing it!.
so today i got this song in my head, and couldn't get it unstuck, so i decided to write alternate lyrics to it... when i get that tune in my head now, i'll have words that work!
What a great laugh I got from this. This is a new idea for passing the time when we are roped in to attending a meeting.

we have been dfed for almost 3.5yrs and have been trying to get back in for 2 yrs and we are getting the runaround.. anyway..... here is the letter my pregnant wife received from her elderess pioneer mother.. .
dear mary,.
i am writing to ask you please do not try to talk to me until you are reinstated.
I can totally relate to what you are going through, having experienced it.
I highly recommend Ray Franz' book CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE. Being a former member of the 'governing body' he put me over the top in seeing just how man made this religion is.
Things will get better for you. We don't always see how, but it works out.
