like many i probably hesitated to post anything.

i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.

i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.

Yes, I remember: They said things like: "Don't waste the little time available in search of worldly possessions", "this sister didn't go to college, see is now a pioneer and a house cleaning lady; follow here example", "don't let educators and other school counselors pressure you into going to college", "the Greeks created academies and gyms under Satan's direction to make the jews betray Jehovah", and so forth 13 times.

So, as you already know, I was in the 2008 DC. Three very boring days. But, I paid attention to every speech, so, you guys don't have to go. Here is my summary of the more than 16 hours of "spiritual food" (tm):

You have to be obedient to the old guys at Brooklyn (mentioned 90 times): FDS 37 times, Organization 42 times, GB 5 times, Obey 6 times
Fear everything different (mentioned 227 times): Worldly people 6 times, Satan 92! times, Great Tribulation 8 times, This is a Bad World 54 times, Prosecution 22 times, These are difficult times 8 times, Demons 7 times, Christendom 10 times, The end is coming 5 times, Apostates 4 times, Sense of urgency 7 times, Argmagedon 4 times
Dates: 1914 3 times, 1919 2 times
Do not study: 13 times
Go to meetings: 10 times
Paradise: 15
Jesus: 133 times

As you can see the major part of the program was scare tactics. Satan was mentioned every ten minutes approximately, almost as much as Jesus. You may think that because this time they mentioned Jesus more than Satan, it is a good think, but if you want to poison somebody, you don't serve the poison alone.

How was you DC? Scare tactics too?

DC Drama 2008: A dream come true for the GB

for years the gb has been creating these dramas for the conventions, trying to use the bible to provoke guilt trips and make the r/f obey, but none of those have the whole message they wanted to get across, meaning: "the perfect jw family".

so, they decided to create this non-biblical account and voila!

they have the perfect drama.

For years the GB has been creating these dramas for the conventions, trying to use the Bible to provoke guilt trips and make the R/F obey, but none of those have the whole message they wanted to get across, meaning: "The perfect JW family". So, they decided to create this non-biblical account and voila! they have the perfect drama. The one, they were waiting for all their lifes. This drama has everything they wanted:

A complete perfect JW family (no monoparental)
A perfect teenager with no desire for comedy, fun or entertainment (basically a GB member in the body of a girl)
A representation of themselves: The John Class!
A dead JW that went to another city to work. For the extra touch
A crazy apostate with all his bad qualities
A sexual deviant wordly person that desire little girls
A pefectly family that want to go and preach where is more need
A father with no desire to get more money

There you go. They created their wacky world.

Is the preaching work one of Jesus' warnings of "great signs and wonders"?

there have been recent comments on the forum about jws saying that because they preach in all the inhabited earth, they are god's chosen organization.. when i was first fading and heard this comment, i was momentarily taken back.

what if i'm wrong?

who else is doing the preaching work?
