The best way to debate JW's without being labeled an apostate
by cookiemaster inhey guys!
here's what i found to be the best way (for me at least) to debate jw's without earning the laber of apostate.
this is mostly valid when debating jw's that don't know you personally, but it could help with those that do too.

Debating is pointless because they just curl up into a defensive ball impervious to logic. Best to go for the jugular right off the bat and leave them shell-shocked and running for the hills.
First ask them to explain the calculation required to reach 1914, then ask them to read Matthew 24:34 and ask them to define a generation. Grab a cold beverage and watch them stammer their way into saying they'll get back to you.

About the ten plagues in Egypt
by runForever inalot of people are saying god is cruel for killing the firstborns and animals and people in the ten plagues.

Not according to mister Cold Steel! No indeed, there is oodles of the "best" evidence available on the History Channel made by none other than acclaimed archaeologist and peer-reviewed scientist James Cameron. In fact there's 90 minutes worth of evidence with flashy CGI and clips from Indiana Jones, too! CGI means it HAS to be true.
Sooooo much more reliable and trustworthy than those elitist dusty academic journals. They're just the mouthpiece of Satan anyway.

"First, I don't care what the biblical scholars believe or not."
Says it all.
Also, that History Channel infomercial by James Cameron was torn to shreds by anyone with a modicum of education. Of course, this serves only to reinforce your position because you see education as a threat to your belief system.

Some food for thought from Wikipedia:
The consensus among biblical scholars today is that there was never any exodus of the proportions described in the Bible. [ 15 ] According to Exodus 12:37–38, the Israelites numbered "about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children," plus many non-Israelites and livestock. [ 16 ] Numbers 1:46 gives a more precise total of 603,550 men aged 20 and up. [ 17 ] The 600,000, plus wives, children, the elderly, and the "mixed multitude" of non-Israelites would have numbered some 2 million people, [ 18 ] compared with an entire Egyptian population in 1250 BCE of around 3 to 3.5 million. [ 19 ] Marching ten abreast, and without accounting for livestock, they would have formed a line 150 miles long. [ 20 ] No evidence has been found that indicates Egypt ever suffered such a demographic and economic catastrophe or that the Sinai desert ever hosted (or could have hosted) these millions of people and their herds. [ 21 ]

I challenge Cold Steel to present a SINGLE shred of archeological evidence pointing to a group of hundreds of thousands of wanderers spending decades camped in the Sinai desert. Go ahead, I'll make popcorn while I'm waiting.

Your favourite dog breed ...?
by LoveUniHateExams inin an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.
huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.
this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

DACHSHUNDS!!!!! I love their clownish personalities and the fact that they snuggle under the covers with you at night.
Followed by Labradors. Had a number fo them growing up and they're great dogs but we live in an apartment so we can't have a big dog at the moment. :(

Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering and all the stuff you weren't allowed to play as a JW
by marmot inby nature i'm a total geek.
i read the lord of the rings for the first time in grade 3 and i would probably have had a 20-sided die hung around my neck if it weren't for the silly superstitious restrictions against playing rpgs among jws.
if anything they should encourage role playing games among the youth because it'll keep them virgins forever.

BTW, did any of you see last week's South Park episode, "C*ck Magic?" I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
