the elders will sort it out aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggg.
we realy do like field service.
ugh can't think of that exact phrasing, but the whole "we are living in the last days" and the illustration of time being a pencil and are at that furthest point of the sharpened pencil. hated hearing that over n over.
i had dinner tonight with my jdub family.
my sister commented how their congregation is shrinking by leaps and bounds...they are getting about 50 people attending the watchtower/public talk on sundays.
one of their elders is moving out of the area and rumors abound they may merge with another cong due to low attendance.

One of their elders is moving out of the area and rumors abound they may merge with another cong due to low attendance. My grandfather (former PO, current elder and city overseer) mentioned that they might be merging with 2 other halls early in 2008. Grandfather blamed the possible merges on people moving out of the expensive to live in area. But then my sister chimed in that Spanish congregations in the same area are still growing by leaps and bounds. She knows one where they average 250 on Sunday that's looking to split.
Is it that the english congregations have people wising up to the cult status? Why aren't the spanish congregations following suit? Any ideas?
i have not posted for a good while now as have not felt the need, .
am living in the real world away from jdub hell.. escaped dissing and now have a few friends (some ex jdub and some that have no clue what a jdub is!!
my sister and i were extremely close but my departure has seperated us and we now rarely see each other.
Simple solution, do what every JDub does on SuperBowl Sunday. Tell 'er to go to an early 9am indoctrination session meeting and there ya go.
i cannot think of any worse place to have a convention than the pontiac silverdome.
for years my family went to south bend, indiana to avoid it.
then when south bend stopped having conventions (probably having something to do with the catholics not appreciating the brothers slamming the religion that financed, built, and hosts the lovely arena they were using), we tried madison, wisconsin for a year, before finally trudging back over to silverdome.
I'd have to agree with the Cow Palace in San Francisco. It would get sweltering hot in there. Yeah the wind tunnel was kinda nice if you were walking around during the session trying to work out the cramp from no leg room for hours on end. Gotta remember the troughs to pee in. Gotta love that. Remember having toilet dooty duty one year...dunno what was worse, the stench from the pee or the stupid fragrance brick things. Ugh. I just remember being so happy to be an attendant so i could zone out during the session.
hey all.
right i honestly don't keep up to date what is happening with the jws' changes of thought.
my aunt - who is now listening to reason & is starting to search outside of jw beliefs, mentioned that they were at their bookstudy and the brother said ""we'll be skipping the next paragraph, as there is a change in thought""".
Does anyone have that OKM? I hadn't seen that one...though I haven't seen a KM in many years.
Kinda funny...back in the day when we studied a book again I would always get a new one to reunderline the answers. That's one not to tell the difference between the old light and new light. <cough>
due to the way i was raised a jw i constantly felt guilt for trying to act like the other guys and it made me stand out even worse.
to this day, due to this, i nowdays become somewhat physically ill whenever i hear a brother give a talk where he says (many here have heard it in different forms) "if jehovah was looking at you youths in the congregation during school could he tell the difference between you and a worldy person.
" myself and most of the other jw guys during middle school and high school did not have the confidence or the "rough and ready to fight" type of body language so we tended to get picked on.
Loosie - Witness school? didnt know they had those....?
Not sure I was ever bullied, but I was teased b/c of glasses, no extra-curricular sports (it's bad association after all) and overweight. There was one time in junior high some kid tried to (never really sure why) and a friend of mine beat him up for going after me. Kinda entertaining. Mom always met with the teacher, School Brochure in hand. She was active at the elementary school and of course I was a good lil j-dub.
in one hall i was in, we had sister self-righteous.
you know the type, always pointed out how spiritual she is and how much she does for jehovah.
anyway, one time she invited me and my two kids over to swim in her pool on a hot day and i told her i could come but that i had my nephew up from ct for a visit and asked if i could bring him.
Eh...wouldn't say these were totally scandalous but, one never knows.
A married elder went out selling magazines field service with a pioneer sister, eventually he raped her and both were df'd. She bc she didn't scream or something to that affect. Stupid.
An elder was forced to step down bc his kid couldn't keep it in his pants.
Probably more, but can't seem to recall anything else at the moment.
Cheers!
it was expected of me to get baptized and at 9 i was.
what about you?
was 15 when i got dunked. no real pressure from anyone. my mom wasnt so sure i was ready, but didnt stop me. at the time i thought it was the right thing to do...whole family was there, blah blah blah...then at 19 faded away.
if you were a jw (!!
), how would you explain dinosaurs and the bible?
?
Wasn't there an Asleep on the Dinosaurs? I remember being utterly disappointed since it was supposed to tell what happened to the dinosaurs, but alas left us unfulfilled. Anyone else remember this? It was probably in the late 80s/early 90s I'm thinking.
