It will be nice when people can finally stop thinking about things that way. It always upsets me to hear when Bill Clinton is referred to as the first black President. Why aren't black people infuriated about that? Basically what's being said that Bill Clinton qualifies to be a black man simply because he's a womanizing rapist and degenerate who cheats on his wife and smokes pot? Actually, I like a good job market. Example: When I was employed with my last employer, the job market was tight for a number of years. So, my boss decided that it would be ok to treat us all like crap, because he knew we couldn't find a new job. I told him that all he was doing was pissing everybody off, and if and when the opportunity arose and the job market changed, the very first people to leave for better jobs would be his most talented and valued employees. Do you know what his response was to us? "The wise man always has his resume out there!" Okey Dokey. Didn't have to tell me twice. I was the first one to quit about 2 months later. Within 45 minutes, the two other talented people quit in response to the news that I quit. Now, my old boss is left with nobody but the dummies who couldn't find a new job. He can't hire a good employee to save his life because those of us in my particular field that are in-the-know all communicate and we all know not to apply for a job at XYZ company, because you'll get screwed. But, hey! He can hire those illegal Mexicans stillajwexelder referred to in his post.
I think that the companies who get stuck with the "defective" employees are getting what they deserve, because they're usually the companies that screw employees. You get what you pay for, my friends.

Who is GUILTY for the JW's killed in the concentration camps?
by Metamorphosis inobviously the nazi's hold bloodguilt in part for the jw's who died in the concentration camps.. but unlike jews who could not change who they were, could not become un-jew and would have been killed anyways, jw's were often offered release if they renounced their faith as a jw.. since it is obviously a false teaching they were led to believe - that their eternal salvation rested on being & staying a jw - does the governing body (leadership) hold some bloodguilt, are they accountable in some way, for the atrocities that fell upon jw's?.
or is it merely a principle thing - that no matter what religion/belief was held, one should not be asked to give it up at the whim of a dictator?.
does the individual jw hold any fault based on whether they refused to sign over principle of freedom of belief or whether it was fear of losing their salvation by leaving a certain denomination?.

Snowbird, I know what you mean. I think it is funny that people are shocked when a black person does good in academics or politics. And if you want to really piss off all the bigots and racists in the world, the best way to do it is to make damn sure you and your kids do better than them in every way possible. That's the best revenge. Do better than them and enjoy your life more than them in spite of them. They'll all die from a bleeding ulcer just thinking about it.
I hate to say it, but I've seen such a thing in my family, too. I had relatives that I hadn't seen in years visiting my house here in Georgia. Apparently, the word didn't make it through the grapevine to them that my wife wasn't white. Well, they called the house for directions and my wife answered. She gave them the directions for me. Well, when they finally got to the house, they were shocked that she was "black" (even though she's several different races, to everybody she's "black"). One of the first things they said was "My, she speaks so well! She doesn't sound black!" I know that they were trying to be nice, but I just had to tell them how damn stupid that sounded. My wife was privately schooled and college educated. What did they expect her to sound like?? I asked what type of phone they had, because I had a top of the line cell phone and it wasn't equipped with the feature that allowed me to hear colors.
As I've said before, I moved to Georgia when I was still in school. I was shocked when I was in a mostly black high school about some of the things I saw. I learned that if one of the black kids was doing good in school and applying themselves, the other black kids would accuse them of "trying to be white". If one of the black kids got good grades and spoke properly, they were considered to be "sellouts" or "oreos". I find it disturbing that many white people act shocked when a black person does well in academics, but I find it equally disturbing that other black people treat them as "sellouts" for doing good; that somehow they've abandoned their culture or heritage by becomming a success. HOW STUPID IS THIS???? Society has a long way to go to stop that kind of stuff from happening. It all starts at home with parents. I drill it into my daughter's head every day that she needs to do good in school, so that way when she grows up she can do whatever she wants, go wherever she wants, have whatever she wants and be whatever she wants.
