I was raised a JW. From a young age we were all taught to shun the world and not have any dealings with it. So, you grow up with an attitude that you shouldn't care about them, because they're all bad and God doesn't approve of them. Why help bad people?

Do Witnesses REALLY Care About Other People?
by minimus ini don't think so.. to me, the vast majority of jws become witnesses because they desire everlasting life.
they want to live in paradise.
they love feeling special.

I actually thought about doing that tomorrow. I'll knock on the door, they'll be throwing candy in my bookbag, I'll be throwing Watchtowers in their candy bowl..... that would make a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit or something.

Why Did You Get Baptized?
by Open mind injws are officially told the "right" reason for baptism is a heart motivated out of love and appreciation for all jehovah has done combined with the desire to please him.
now let's get real.

So...I got duped today!
by lovelylil ini am one of those people who always gives money to those who ask me on the street.
the reason is because there was a time when i was a kid that my siblings and i needed to beg on the street for food money because mom and dad were both addicts.. anyway, i was on my way into walmart and a lady stopped me and asked if i could give her a few dollars ($5 to be exact) so that she could pick up a prescription for some medicine.
she explained that she and her kids have been sick with bronchitis and although the kids were better she was not and had run out of money until her check came on the first of the month.. i can also sympethize with having to wait for government checks to buy what you need having grown up on state welfare programs and i reasoned that $5 is nothing for me and my husband because combined we bring in over six figures a year income.

I gave a homeless guy money.... exactly once. I was going to the Fox Theatre with a girl and when I got off the highway at 14th St. there were homeless guys standing there with their little cardboard signs. One of the guy's signs said "It's hot. Why Lie? I need a beer!" I thought it was so funny, I gave him $5.00.
I have had many, many people ask me for money around Atlanta. Just about everybody knows the story.... I can't find a job, I'm hungry, I'm homeless, I need money for my kid's medicine, I need money to buy my kids pampers..... etc., etc. When I owned my own business, these homeless guys would tell me they would work for food. I would tell them to get in my car and I would let them work at my business cleaning up or something and I would feed them and give them a few bucks. They always declined, even if it was freezing cold outside or raining. The would rather stand freezing in the pouring rain than work for a day's pay and food. I don't mind helping people. I do mind giving them money for alcohol and drugs.
I had one guy who I knew for sure was a crack addict and a drunk ask me for money one day "because he was hungry". I looked at him and said "Be honest, aren't you just going to take whatever I give you and spend it on drugs or alcohol?" And he said that was what he would do. So, I looked at him and said "Hell, that's all I was going to do with it! Work for your own drugs and alcohol!" haa haa.
So, I hardly ever give money to somebody panhandling. I do, however, donate to charities and individuals I know for a fact are in need. I also prefer do donate anonymously. I don't want my name on a plaque or anything like that. Last year a lady on my job was having a hard time. Her husband got laid off and ended up in the hospital. I cashed my Christmas bonus check and put the money in an envelope and slipped in in her purse at lunch time. She has no idea who did it, but I know it helped her and her kids. Many years ago when I was a little boy my father asked me the question "Which is better: to give or to receive?" And, of course, I said that it was better to receive! He explained that the reason it was better to give was because you couldn't give anything unless you had something to give, which means you are in a much better position than the person who is receiving who didn't have anything. I'm not rich, but I'm glad that I'm in a position in life to be able to give, because I've been on the other end of the spectrum and it sucks to have to be the receiver.

The WTBS..... Kinda like a steaming pile of cow crap on a cold day..... The more toward the center of the cow pie you are, the warmer you are, because you are the most covered with crap. Near the outside, you're still covered with crap. Either way, it stinks. The key is to be somewhere else entirely.
And now, for my heart-warming adage of the day....
One day a little bird was flying south for the winter. He was shot by a hunter and his wing was injured so he fell in a field. It was very cold and he was sure to freeze to death. Well, a cow came along and took a big, fat dump on him. Even though the bird was covered with crap, he was warm and he lived through the night. The next morning, a cat came along and saw the bird. He pulled the bird out of the pile of crap and ate him.
The moral of the story?? Just because somebody pulls you out of some crap doesn't mean they are your friend or have your best interests at heart. Sometimes somebody who craps all over you can be your best friend!

You know what, if your house DOESN'T have three day's worth of food in it, you probably are a loser! LOL We're always prepared at the Dork household. Always plenty of canned goods and bottled water and charcoal in case we need to cook and the electric goes out.

I'm trying to think up a good avatar for me. I don't even know how to add one.

Revelation its ungrand climax
by ush419 ini have been reading the finished mystery lately and am not surprised at the nonsense displayed in it, it rivals the nonsense in the newer box revelation its grand climax.
i had thought that there was another book that covered revelation prior to this fiasco that came out in either the late 80's or early 90's.
if anyone knows pls to inform this one.
