Thanks Karen, I am a fan or your kind posts are your gentle manner. Thanks for being here and posting. You make my life better.
The end time indoctrination was so deep in me from threats delivered by my parents on god's behalf and from exposure to frequent repetition of texts like I pasted above, that I lived with a sense of impending doom for years after I left the group in 1974.
I still am sometimes amazed at how terrible my childhood was due to the Society and my parents and how wrong everything I was taught is.
I can only wonder how much damage I did to my own children before I realized the depth of the error of it all myself.

Yes SS, It was liberating for me (to say the least) to read the book The Three Worlds And Plan Of Redemption by Nelson Barbour published by Charles Russell, Russell's 6 Studies volumes and the writings of Rutherford after his imprisonment. I could see the human creation as well as the evolution of the current philosophy. It is interesting to me that the Society chooses to not credit William Miller and Nelson Barbour for the actual creation of the movement and pivotal dates.
Now it is also interesting to see a re-active Watch Tower Publishing Corporation in action. Not that many years ago they took pains to be seen as pro-active and they virtually never reacted to outside criticism and they almost never gave any attention to critics or former members. They now appear to be working in overtime at loss prevention and asset preservation. They have public scrutiny of their principles like their abuse reporting guidelines as well as their practices, like the shunning and snubbing practice.
The lawsuits are being filed and lots more coming up. The rank and file are going to have a lot to defend in upcoming days.

No wonder these fears and beliefs are so deep in our minds.
