As a practicing JW I did minimal study. I did enjoy reading the bible during the meetings but the meaning I got from it did not agree with the teachings of the Corporation. That still did not concern me. I was in a club and I had friends and relatives there and that life was all I had ever known. I was comfortable . . . for a while. . . . then came 1974 and 1975.
After I had been away for a while I was drawn to research the Corporation and past writings. I read most all of Charles Russell's work as well as Rutherford's and Knorr and Franz's as well as all the current publications.
When I was an adolescent the Corporation had us studying the Let God Be True book at the Tuesday night book study. That was the main study book for new recruits too. One of my most interesting studies was making a word by word study of all three versions of that book. I studied that book like no JW ever studied it. It explained so much. It settled so much in my mind about my errant education and about the behaviors of my parents and relatives as well as other group members who were indoctrinated with that book.
The current undertow is still influenced by the Let God Be True book and those indoctrinated with it.
If one reads that book and then reads 30 Years A Watchtower Slave, that one will understand Jehovah's Witnesses.
Happy weekend all,

We did the Greatest Man book, that was the best. It was during that book that I got reproved for the second time and they said I wasn't allowed to comment anymore at any of the meetings. (has that ever happened to anybody else?)
That never happened to me. What were your comments that got you removed from the approved for answers list?

Are All Non-JW's "Worldly"
by Double Edge inafter speaking with my jw friend, i asked "do you consider me a worldly person and not a true christian?".
they asked "what do you mean and where did you hear that".
i said that i had gotten into a conversation with some former (you all) jw's and they said that even though i attend church, jw's don't accept me as a 'true' christian and i'm called a worldly person.

When a JW answers a question that was never asked, that is done because they do not want to answer the question that was asked.
You have been played.
I used to make a game out of trying to get a straight answer to a straight question, such as your example, from a JW, any JW. They would always get pissed off before they would answer the question.gb

There have been reports of meetings being held in rooms with windows and one brother even thought he saw a sister looking out. Some private homes even have comfortable seating and this is not in keeping with the spirit of the preparers of the publications. One brother even was noticed loosening his necktie. Also due to the large number of publishers disfellowshipped and reproved for sins of a sexual nature, the Governing Body has noticed an appreciation by certain brothers and sisters of the fact that many private homes actually have rooms with beds installed. This certainly is not the environment fitting consideration of the latest change in core teachings. -

WTS retirement plan
by stichione inas a building inspector in a large city, i also come across inspecting nun's retirement homes.
in fact, working on a special project recently i visited 10 buildings housing anywhere from 60 to 500 nuns each.
i was struck by how well these nuns are taken care of by the catholic church.

It's just the difference between a religion and a book publishing corporation. The rewards are fitting for a self centered group who go around with their noses in the air criticizing everything and everybody.
"We are better, we have the truth, we are never going to grow old". Hahahahaha
They deserve to live old in poverty. They earned it all. Fools!

Keep Free From Murmuring....Are YOU A Murmurer?
by minimus inwt.
11-15 02 states:"persistent murmurers attach too much importance to their feelings or position, drawing attention to themselves rather than to god.
if not checked, this causes dissension among spiritual brothers and hinders their efforts to serve jehovah shoulder to shoulder.this is so because murmurers invariably voice their complaints, doubtless hoping that others will sympathize with them.

Don't think, don't talk, don't feel!
Smile and go to meetings
Dress right and go in service
Consent, conform, agree
Harmony and unity
busy as a bee
All this from Jehovah
So glad that they are free -

Happy birthday and happy anniversary.
My wife and I rode the Bear Tooth pass and visited Red Lodge in 1992 on our trip from the Sturgis rally, right after a run in with a buffalo in Yellowstone and before we got to Glacier and Highway To The Sun and a rubber raft ride down a river. I have the pictures to prove it all. :-)That was the trip where a JW on a 1200 rescued us from a clogged fuel filter and put us up in his home. His name was Marvin Catchpole. He lived in Great Falls. Great guy!!

Field Service Reporting To Book Study
by Coqui inabout three or four months ago the organization changed the way field service time is reported... they decided that everyone would not drop their time card in a box in the kingdumb hall but rather leave the report with their book study conductor.
i liked the fact before that i could leave the report with someone i seldom saw.
with the change i realized that with this change the elders had even more control and influence on me.

Near the end of my association with the agents of the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation, I continued to do fundraising and recruiting (service) but I discontinued the recording of my activity on a field service report card and handing it into the elders.
They called several months in a row and every month I told them I had no activity to report. They knew I had been participating in the unpaid literature distribution activity but they never confronted me as to why I did not report the time to them.
I think they were glad to get rid of me.
Unpaid religious book distribution never was my idea of fun in the first place.
Happy weekend everybody:-)
