In England the test for reasonableness goes by the quaint old saying , "what would the man on the Clapham Omnibus think?"

you're eating at a large, multi bilion dollar franchise corporation restaurant.
now, further assume you find a pubic har in your food, or better yet, you find a hair when it pulls your lip as you removed your fork from your mouth.
now, you suffer no physical harm, no sickness, no tangible harm.
In England the test for reasonableness goes by the quaint old saying , "what would the man on the Clapham Omnibus think?"

I will post the MIles Davis version of this piece as it is interesting to show how classical music can inform jazz

but thank god because at least she won't have to be destroyed at armeggedon because she is not a jehovah's witness.
she was a catholic all her life and is very devoted to her god and jesus she is 85 and smoked up until 1981 so her death won't be the most pleasent but hospice is doing a wonderful job at making her last few months comfortable.
i'm so glad i don't buy into all the crap the watchtower bible and tract society teaches.
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through, my mum died 11y ago of the same awful disease.
Deepest sympathy

today, the international crime court celebrates its tenth anniversary .
i believe it has the potential to become a powerful tool against worldwide violations of human rights .
here's an introductory article on the court's proceedings and future activities:.
We don't have a contempt for law, but we do have a contempt for government, which is what ultimately enforces law in our world. Get it?
That is otiose in the extreme. Government and law are inexticably linked. In our country the government( parliament) makes the lawand the judicial system enforce and iterpret it.
To despise one is to despise both. If we follow your argument are we to despise democracy, ie those who voted for government? The same is true in large measure in the US.

for me, it means that sometimes you have to give up the comfortable illusion that was pulled over your eyes and accept the consequences of being truly free to seek and find..... to "know thyself".
sometimes this is uncomfortable and lonely after having been a witness for many years.
i think that is why many jws choose to remain ignorant and inauthentic.. they fear authenticity.
We must learn to do this with ourselves. Accept ourselves warts and all, then if we feel the need to change ourselves we are better positioned to control the changes, rather then let them control us.

i agree with those sentiments so much.
For me it means being happy and honest with myself and others.
And being ready to accept and embrace change in whatever form it may take.
I had a conversation with someon last year along similar linees to this thread
Very interesting and thoughtful topic

personally, i think they are ............and from an early age but why?
from personal experience men need to feel loved, wanted and appreciated but have a bypass from romance.
is it just my husband or do you men feel pressured to be "be romantic".
No i do think so per se. Some men are romanitic alot as you imly are not, The same can be said the other way round.
I love French music and Jazz, these are often romanitic. Madame Bouvery by Flaubert is romantic too.
Interestingly i have very good friend who is gay and wih whom i eat out once a month, and he always takes his partner home nice chocs or colognes when we have been in London together.
But i do take your point

There is nothing wrong with being wrong if one is willing to adjust one's point of view in light of new evidence. I did so in response to your post on that and I appreciated it. Crowing about it here is a very poor show and also very revealing.
Dear burn i do remember your apology which i acknowledge., my point here was not to crow, but to show that you often speak without knowing what you are talking about.
You issue threats of violence , which is so wrong.
BTW i am English not European , we are no more homogenous than America is. I am very pro the European Union

I do remember when burn took me on bts doubted the veracity of my legal knowledge , guess who was right ?
No prizes sorry
And btw those threaten violence show they have lost the argument

so this afternoon, my folks came over to visit me - they dont visit often, but since i am at home this week recovering from my sinus op, they made the effort to visit.. we were chatting and drinking tea and the phone rang.
i got up and answered it and i was greeted by a friendly sounding woman named heidi, who told me she was doing a "christian volunteer work" and was just calling to share a "short message with me".
she talked about the lords prayer and how it's words are "thy kingdom come" and had i ever stopped to wonder what that kingdom was.
Interesting pdb, i wonder if this helps helps the fs hours.?
I know if i had done it my hours would have inreased dramatically
