I did notice in the publications there were no interracial couples when picturing the New System.

Ending Bible Study
by Maria Nieves ini have been studying with jehovah's witnesses for approximately two years.
initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.
however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.

Dont feel afraid or bad or anything. The person studying with you will drop you like a hot potato if you are baptized and disfellowshipped for whatever. The person studying with you "counts your time". In other words, they are being spiritually paid for your studies. That's a feather in their cap in the congregation.....see how devoted to Jah they are. Then they turn that in and the organization uses this to prove the preaching work is speeding up, or culminating or whatever they want to use you for. It's all a man made scheme to benefit an organization financially. Period.

Two For One!
by snugglebunny inback in the day - yeah, i know, most things i write start like that!
however - back in the day there was an implicit rule ratio of 2 to 1 when it came to counting time.
two witnesses witnessing to one person for one hour would count one hour each.

It sure seems that the amount of hours claimed is pretty ineffective compared with converts.

Jws don't really have "communities" or "functions" like churches do?
by nowawake14 ini've noticed how this religion is kind of narrow.
all they ever do is preach, study the watchtower, or their meeting or convention.
no other organized functions that i know of.

They are an isolated group with it's members isolated from each other.

What I don't understand is people thinking that Modern day Israel is in any way related to ancient Israel. They are no longer and have not been since 70ce "the chosen" of god.

Thank you for being a good father. Your daughter is somewhat stuck and she has needs that despite the love of the JWs, are not being met. She could consider some meet-up groups. Any interests/hobbies she could gradually investigate....not advertising in the congregation....and start making friends there. When I left I just did it. I did not have outside friends and that was really hard. She can start filling her own needs slowly but surely. She can and will be happy but she has to work at it.

Of course, however, I do not back the Netanyahu or his eradication of Palestinians.

Is The Watchtower Society Just Copying The Mormon's Model?
by pale.emperor inwhen i was a faithful jw i was pretty much obsessed with the mormon religion.
to me it was like lord of the rings.
i knew the characters, the history, the events, the joseph smith stories, the religion's history etc etc etc and i long suspected even then that the watchtower society has been copying certain things from the lds church.. for example, the first thing i noticed was when the book study was dropped and family worship was started.

My mother had me study with this pioneer woman. (not the cook on tv) It was in the mid sixties. She asked me who was going to survive Jehovahs day of anger. Answer: only those in the great crowd. How do you become one? Ans....baptism. I was scared enough to get baptized behind my mom's back. She was mad. So don't give your kids to other people.
