I just remember sitting on a chair outside the class room with the door closed when all the parties (birthday, xmas, easter etc) feeling like a total outcast. It felt like I was being punished.

Who else liked "The Rifleman"?
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ini grew up watching the rifleman and always loved it.
i wonder if they might bring it to the big screen like they have ironman and the hulk.
maybe tom selleck could pull off a decent lucas mccain??

I loved the Rifleman and I record it every day. All those idealistic shows of the time made you think right was right and wrong was wrong and bad guys got killed or learned their lesson. The best thing about it's rebroadcast is that it is commercial free.

Has Anybody Here Converted to Judaism?
by Robdar ini've studied many religions since i left the jws.
i've flirted with a few and have actually thought about joining, but in the end i didn't because it didn't feel right--it didn't resonate with me.
in 2001, the year i discovered this forum, i started reading judaism 101 and really enjoyed it.

Are you serious? As a woman I am affronted by the separation and adoration of men in the Jewish belief system. Any group that is dictated to on what to wear, eat, act, recite repetitive prayers, avoid marriage to "non-believers", wear ringlets, pubic haired beards, adore certain objects is all a giant red flag of "MAN MADE". "Tradition" or "Custom" is an evasive excuse of personal responsibility and ties you to a non-thinking mindset. I am very happy for your new path and I hope the honeymoon lasts forever.

Having been in the "society" for many decades I have seen that there is a power of language that is unique to the WT. When I first discovered this website I just cracked up over the "otherwiseknown" language. It gave me a freedom and a clairity I didn't have before. The Catholics do the same as do Mormons, Jews, Muslims, JWs, the military. etc. It is another way of keeping people's mind in self check as much as telling people what to read, watch, who to talk to, etc.
I never took it as a slam to all JWs.... only to the control of their own language.
To me it makes me laugh at myself for all those years of word worship and the intelligence and humour of the people that have posted here.

There is a newish Rangpour Tangaray. Has those Rangpour Limes as part of the process.
Rather have a gin on rocks with lime or olives. Forget the Vermouth.
If you can find it get Tonic made with sugar instead of that horrible high fructose corn syrup. You will loose weight.
"Gin makes you sin" unknown sinner quote.

Wow! That is interesting. I only remember the old green song book and "Zion Most Happy Place" or something like that was my fav. Unfortunately it was a "worldly" tune and was dropped. Always hated the new song book. Unsingable melodies and keys. Anyone remember how horrible the first tapes were of "Kingdom Melodies" with orchestra??????

My divorce was in 1990. Have dated a few guys. Had marriage proposals (which I thought were premature). I think there will be some great times ahead of you. If you like somebody ask them for coffee. That's pretty safe. Proceed from there. Many people at work used E Harmony and ended up married (except the one gal who's husband had a history of abuse that she didn't find out until he beat her up with a hammer. She's okay now and hunting for another....I think that would have done me in on dating.) As jaded as I am I would hire a dective to check someone's background and credit if I started to get very interested.

One possible explanation for the change to CBS (& maybe other changes?)
by sir82 inas has been noted on this forum and elsewhere, recent years have seen a flurry of changes coming to the jw organization, at blinding speed (at least, as compared to their usual glacial pace).. here's a thought that occurred to me as to why all these changes, all of a sudden.. 2 or so years ago, the gb had 11 members.
since then, sydlik & barber have died.
the votes for "drop the book study" were probably either 6-5 or 7-4 in favor - a majority, but not the required 2/3 majority.. now they're down to 9 members, and probably the most recent vote to drop the book study was 6-3. voila!

Maybe they hired a Human Resource Polling and found out that 5 friggin meetings/week was too much for people.
