in a general view of religious people - most religious people feel it makes them holier, better, or on a higher moral plane claiming to worship god in an organized religion.

in the jehovah's witnesses view - the outside world is evil, and they claim that if you get away from their religion , and " fall away" a person is doomed to go astray, doing various sundry things like murder, adultery, stealing, orgies, because " they claim " that they have fallen " out of " god's favor.

First, I make a distinction between being "religious" and being "spiritual".

I find very religious people often tend to be very narrow minded and judgmental. They go through life in a straight line, according to their usually strong beliefs, without giving too much leeway.

So NO, being religious does not necessarily equal being a good person. I would say being spiritual makes a person more sensitive and more inclined to at least try to make the world a better place~

i have a feeling i am going to have to explain to my jw folks why i have decided to allow my children to participate in holidays at school.

theyll probably be wondering too why i will get together with our non jw family for the holidays.. .

we know jws avoid holidays because of their pagan origins.

Juneteenth Celebration

juneteenth, a portmanteau of the words june and nineteenth, is an african-american celebration that commemorates the date of june 19, 1865, when union general gordon granger notified the slaves on galveston island, texas that they were free, in fact, had been free since january 1, 1863.. there will be a gathering in the little park near my house on saturday, june 21. for the first time, i plan on participating.

it will be a celebration of my own liberation from the chains of the wts.

i just wanted to share.

Do you exercise or isn't that your thing.

for the last 5 and 1/2 weeks i have been at the gym mostly twice a day except saturdays - i only have one training session.

each of my sessions is at least an hour long but can go for two hours.

i do various cardio in the evenings and do strength training in the morning.

Yes, I also exercise. Try to go to gym daily while I usually don't do weekends. The body needs a break.

Had to stop for a while due to surgery so I had to return very gradually. But at this stage, I am back to treadmill, rowing machine, and different weight machines. And of course, my beloved yoga. But that is another story...

Going to gym is not always a given. Some mornings, I really have to push myself. But in the end, just like you, I thouroughly enjoy it. It brings a "high" difficult to explain:-)
