thank you much to each and every one of you for taking time to comment. your beliefs, no matter what they happen to be at the time, are invaluable information for me. at this point, i still believe in the bible. and the passage mentioned by yknot hit me like a ton of bricks...{1Cor 7:23} "YOU were bought with a price; stop becoming slaves of men" {a verse that has never been used in my study so far...wonder why*} yes BlackPearl, how much clearer can this get???:-) when the JWs first got in touch with me, it all seemed so simple. now i realise that so much is asked of them. i was raised as a roman catholic and never went to mass. now, do you really think i feel like going to 5 meetings/week + field service + assemblies, and what not??? where will i find time to live??? anyway, i digress here:-) thank again to you all...and God bless*

Have been reading SO much on this site...it is not even funny anymore. I am now into "The Best of"...a gold mine of personal experiences! While reading, a question often comes to mind. For those who care to answer...did your personal experience with the JWs also killed your belief in Jehovah, Christ, and the Bible?

Why is it so easy.............................
by 2112 infor the wt to make changes in their "truth" so often.
we all know about the blood changes, and the generation changes, etc.
i was thinking that they are so hungry for some "proof" that jehovah is feeding them that they just embrace everything and anything.

If God came as a human on earth, i wonder where He would find the Truth. But one thing I know for sure...He would not be a GB member!

An email from my Dad on Bible Chronology - Armegeddon's arrival
by eclipse ini cannot provide any background info on my dad except to say that he is not an attender anymore, but is not apostate.. years ago, my dad showed me why he thought 1975 was wrong, and he gave me a date like 2011, 2012...back in 2004.. it actually made sense to me back then, and obve's posts reminded me of my dad's calculations..... only my dad's calculations were not based on addition or multiplying of random crazy numbers, .
but actually were logical assumptions based on the scriptures as he understood them.. here is his email to me...it might be lengthy, but it is easy to follow and understand.
(sorry for the large font, it was the font he used in the email.

a thought in a kinda alignment with your father's email... "Why did the Mayan calendar stop? The astronomer priests of the long-lost Mayan civilisation were fascinated by the movements of Venus. Though only partial fragments of their knowledge survive, we know they saw enormous significance in what we today, call a ‘transit’. With astonishing precision, they worked out every date when Venus would pass across the face of the Sun, right through to 2012. Then their calculations stopped. Did they run out of stone on which to carve their calendar? Did they think the world was going to end? Or were they making a much more amazing prophecy?"
