We are delighted to see the results of what many XJWs can accomplish when they team up and protest against the injustice of ostracism (shunning). In this day and age it is outrageous Watch Tower adherents can practice ostracism and that democratic governments are tolerant of such an infringement of human rights.

If we don’t speak up or demonstrate that we have had enough of this intrusion into our civil right to exit a religion without being penalized in a most injurious way, nothing will change and we will only have ourselves to blame.

Factual information to the public will eventually win out against JWs dishonest arguments that they have a God-given right to shun. In reality, shunning amounts to intolerance of others who disagree and this indeed is a human rights issue

You know how much we struggle over here in defense of the Human Rights against the policy and teachings of the Watchtower which, outrageously, teaches and imposes shunning on those who abandon their teachings after having been a witness in their life, as granted by article 19 th of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I have made an application to the ICSA board to participate in their international conference here in Italy on July 4 th of next year in Trieste, in the North-East of the country, on exactly that subject: “Do the teachings and practices of Jehovah’s Witnesses violate the Human Rights?”. I hope I will be given the opportunity to participate with my lecture on the subject which goes through 13 of the 30 articles of the Declaration of Human Rights, comparing them with the teachings of the Watchtower, leaving the answer to this question on each and every one of the 13 articles, to the public. We all know what the only answer can be …, once you go through the analysis of the Watchtower policies and internal regulations!

Very good idea Moshe, maybe not applicable when you demonstrate on the road and public squares as we did in Milan and Rome, but very appropriate I would say, when we have conferences and where we can reserve a couple of front seats with a label "Reserved for Jehovah's Witnesses Elder", after having invite them at the talk!

Today I had a long conversation with a woman who studied with the JW long ago, because her parents were JW. But in one way or another, she managed not to join the cult. While she was telling me her story, I was shocked to learn that she is the mother of a young man who was posting on our forum who lives not far from Aosta, where we have a chalet. He was “dissociated” in the sense that he did not share anymore the JW beliefs, and joined the forum around 2006. I have had some contacts virtual with him during the years, but I never met him.

Last year, since we had organized a conference in Aostaf on September 17th, I invited him hoping to meet him for the first time. Unfortunately he never showed up.

The reason why I am telling you this story is that today, his mom told me that he never recovered since he was disfellowshiped and suffered a lot. He lived alone, not married in a small village not far from Aosta. At a given point in time, as he could not stand anymore his situation, he decided to move down south to Palermo, in Sicily. I didn’t know about that and probably this is the reason why he never showed up at the conference in Aosta, which is 1200 miles away from where he lived.

The sad story is that he ended up committing suicide last July! His name was Enea.
Not only at his funerals, no one came except his mom from the North of Italy, but no one in the area where he lived and where his JW family lives even dared sending their condolences, not even the grandmother and his aunt, sister of the lady who contacted me today on Facebook. When she, his mother met a JW of the congregation of his now dead son, told hin about the suicide, the idiot said “if he would have asked for forgiveness and be reinstated, he would be alive now”! THIIS THE TYPE OF EMOTIONS which the WT instills in people, love is only a nice word printed on their magazines, but they have NO feeling for people real suffering specially when those suffering are due to the discrimination taught and imposed by the WT to their followers towards those who decide to use of their civil rights to change religion. Disgusting!

This is the reason why we have organized twice now our demonstrations against the ostracism imposed by the Watchtower, the first one in December 2010 in Rome and now this last one last Saturday in Milan.

We were happy to see that, although many hesitated at the beginning, a number of about 100 people were there starting at 10 a.m. and participating until 5 p.m., in spite of the cold wind and finally the rain.

We have reprinted thousands of the tracts and leaflets exposing the Watchtower used during the demonstration and sent them to those who asked for and who intend to distribute them in locally in their area.

Thrilled by the results, we now start to plan our next demonstrations which, this time, may well take place concurrently in different Italian towns.

Our objective is to inform the public of this indecent and arrogant practice of shunning so that people think twice before engaging in associating with JW.
These demonstrations are in addition to the different conferences we give on the subject such as the three talks I gave this year in France and Italy, and the many more talks I gave in Italy in the last 3 years, following Barbara’s visit to Europe where we toured some of the European cities and exposed the WT on its pedophile policy and the dangers of associating with the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

- for Ziddina: you got it - it was not in conjunction with a JW convention, but was directed more to the general public in order to expose the WT and alert those who know already the JW or who would meet them in the future what this movement is precluding from them.

In fact, a couple of "sisters" who were passing by, stopped and started to read the leaflets. When discussing with one of the demonstrator lady who has been seriously ostricized, they insisted in stating that it was not true that JW discriminate their close family. This statement made the ostracized lady to bursed into tears.

We did it again!

Two years after Rome, yesterday December 1 st , day by day, we were about 100 of us demonstrating on a public square in the center of Milan, Italy.

At about 10-11 a.m. many of us were already on the spot, installing our gazebo on the public square where we were granted authorization by the police and starting the distribution of about 4000 tracts to passersby in the surrounding squares, boulevards and streets exposing the Watchtower for its teachings and instructions on discriminating those who decide to use their rights to walk away from this religious movement without to have to incur the ostracism imposed by the leadership.

The reason for the demonstration is the same as the one held in Rome 2 years ago, because of the low being discussed by this religious movement, between others, 0.8% payback to the Watchtower of the income taxes relieved by the government, similar to what is being practice for the Vatican.

During the demonstration, several people who have been ostracized were interviewed and have told their sad story of discrimination by the members of their close family because of the Watchtower internal rules which violate the Italian Constitution and the charter of the Universal Human Rights.

At about 5 p.m., after a day of continued demonstration with tracts distribution, interviews, wall charts, posters and bills, the event was closed while a tiny rain started to fall on the city.

you may recall that sometime ago i posted an information about it.. jacques lejeunes case, ex jw, who had won an appeal against the adverse second level judgment, will be heard for the last time in front of the mons court on october 18th.. this case is emblematic as it is the first time that the violation of human right against the wt will be heard.. jacques is determined to go to the european court of human rights if this last case will end up in favor of the wt.. whoever wants to join me in attending the trial in support of jacques is welcome.. believe that jacques deserves this support.. the case will be heard on october 18th at 2 p.m. and is planned to last 4 hours.

both jacques and the wt have already presented their memorandum which is available online on my website, but in french only.

sorry for not having reacted earlier.

The situation is the following:

First, the Court gave itself time until December 20 th to come up with a decision.

Then, on that day, they said they needed more time and postponed their decision to January 10 th 20012.

A few days ago, on January 10 th , the Court finally came up with a preliminary judgment:

The charge, on the basis of the Belgian 2007 law against discrimination, was rejected, but …
A new trial will have to be celebrated on the following aspects:
Violation or not of the Belgian law of 1921 which guarantees the freedom of association
Violation or not of the European Human Rights Charter (articles 3,8,9,14 & 17)
The request, by the ex JW, for moral and physical compensation
The request, by the ex JW, of cancellation of his baptism as a JW

Some considerations:

The first trial at the first judgment level dates back to August 2004. The claim was of Belgian law against discrimination. In the meantime, while the case went through 4 levels of judgment, Belgium has rewritten the law against discrimination, invalidating the old 2003 and introducing the new 2007 law.
For some reasons (we do not have yet the details of the justifications used by the Court), it was deemed that this case, which dates back to 2004, has not violated the 2007 law.

We need to understand the details of the justification to take the appropriate decision as to whether or not there is a base to pursue further the case at the European Court of Human Rights.

Independently of this particular aspect, the case will have to be re-judged by a new Court, in the light of the four aspects highlighted by the Court of Appeal of October 18 th 2011.

Jacques is away on vacation right now, and I did not have a chance to speak to his lawyer. As soon as he is back we will sit together to evaluate the whole issue.

I shall keep you informed of the evolution of the case

trying to access is through the search field takes you to the login screen, in spite of the fact that i am already logged in.. and if i try to login again, the screen turns back to the initial login screen again, and asks again for your id and password, although i can see that i am already logged in.. any help?.

has the wt complained about the letter and you were obliged to balnk it out?.
