To be honest i took it seriously and was trying to do what was right before i got baptized. But elders and others just piled on the pressure. You know " jehovah will only save baptized ones and the end can come at any time soon".Which when you think of it this peer pressure is nothing to do with holy spirit or christian qualities.

The Bad Songs
by WTWizard ini can remember coming into the organization.
at the time, they wanted me to get rid of any music that didn't fit.
of course, that meant the heavy metal that was common at that time.

Yeah this was one of the things ive always hated about the watchtower.Controlling peoples music.I was brought up in a very musical family. My dad was a dj and i used to work with him for years at the clubs. So music meant a lot to me emotionally.I remember times when i tried to fit my taste of music with the towers advice and found it was just so boring. Now i love to play whatever i want and its kinda become a way of rebeling against the watchtower listening to my music i want. Its quite funny really i remember when i was studying with the elder next door and i once played some eminem music really loud. The elder came round next day and gave me a pep talk on romans 1 where it says that god gives them up to a corrupt mind, kinda still makes sense really though.

where to go from here?
by jacethespace insome of you on here know that i have been fading for sometime now and stopped going to meetings for quite a while but the past month or so i have returned.i am still just not sure whether at the end jws will be found to be gods people or not.. well today i attended the early sunday meeting eager to try and do what i still think could be right and despite the doubts i have about the watchtower.. now to be fair a number of people came and spoke to me said hello and stuff.the majority just didnt bother.but what really got me today was a number of people who i thought were my friends were just hateful.i even held the door open for one of them and they just were so hatefull and gave me funny looks as if i had the plague or something.i left feeling like this is no diffrent to any other religion.
some nice and other people not so nice.all i could think of on the way home was so much for jehovah never forgetting what you have done for him.im starting to wonder whether the bible is really gods word after all.. i just feel im at a fork in the road and dont know what to do for the best..

Most Witnesses Don't Know the "Current Truth" on Matthew 5:5!
by deaconbluez inmatthew 5:5: "happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.".
if you ask most witnesses what this verse means, they will say that it means those who are meek/mild/humble will be given the earth as a reward to live forever on.
i was surprised to find out that this is not the official watchtower teaching of that verse.

From my experience in the tower i have noticed how alot people especially the elders will still use old light for awhile until the new lights drummed into them. Its like they cant adjust and keep up with the towers reinterpretation of things. For example i have learnt how the " generation " teaching was changed in 1995 so it could no longer mean the generation that saw 1914 would see the end.But when i came into the tower in 1999 i was taught by others for years that this generation that saw 1914 would see the end and it would end before they die.
