I would have the word "repentent" in, well... quotes.
The very first sentence of the article does have it in quotes actually

Did she just torpedo the JW? I think she just said a standard of practice she would recommend is never to allow a former child abuser to be in a ministry position. Maybe she doesn't know that JW's appoint child abusers again as MS or elders.

whether any consideration of those outside the congregation was made when deciding to reprove sex offenders who may reoffend in the community.That hit me hard. I'm ashamed to say I never considered that aspect before. Being a born-in, we have the mentality that it's us against the "world", quite literally.

He's just trying to save his own ass in this case. Even the Elder book says a confession OR two witnesses is sufficient. He's screwed from both ends on this one.So in addition to victims' testimony, the judicial committee gets a confession from the wrongdoer and they choose not believe it, because they are not sure if the wrongdoer really means to confess. How crazy is that?
the press is reporting that over 1,000 cases of abuse were hidden from authorities in australia.. australia has around 68,000 publishers.. if you that ratio applied to the u.s. also, there could be over 14,700 cases that were covered up here.. if the ratio held the same worldwide, that would be over 117,600 cases.. just let that sink in a little..
Cappytan, it's much worse than that. That's 1006 case files. Each pedophile may have abused more than one child.
