  I can see this causing real trouble for some family friends. Their son is 36, and raising 3 kids by himself. After divorcing his wife, he ended up taking her back, without getting married again.

  They live in Mom and Dad's basement. Just with all the problems relating to our friend and his ex we have told them they need to kick them out. But they are too attached to the kids, who aren't any of them related by blood. They will never make them leave, and actually endure mistreatment by the exwife.

  I am eager to see how this plays out for them. Dad was an elder. Son faded (quickly and with a stripper), but has never been DF'd. I think they did make Dad step down though.

  Was there any particular song or music u were not allowed to listen to because it was inappropriate or it was deemed demonized?

  i remember there was this heavy metal group called wasp.

  some of the witnesses said it stood for we are satans people and that wasnt even true.

  stairway to heaven by led zeppelin was a no-no because they said if u played it backwards it talked about worshipping the devil.

  My dad was a Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin fan. But we couldn't listen to anything metal, definately NOT AC/DC like I wanted. I am an 80's baby, and love all the hair bands. But they were all naughty.

  If my dad could see me now! I would love to see his reaction to my antics these days..

  my mom,dad,uncles,aunts,and grandparents were all raised catholic.

  they were all baptised and married in the catholic church.. one day in the early 1960's,a witness preached to my uncle.

  he started a bible study and later had his immediate family join in.

  My maternal grandma. She was raised Mormon, kind of. She was converted in Nebraska in the early 60's. Her, my mom and my uncle were baptized on the same day.

  My dad was raised a Catholic. While my mom was inactive she married him. He left the Navy and studied and got baptized when I was 2 I think. In LA.

  My uncle has been inactive for years, but I hear he has been going to meetings again. None of my dad's 15 brothers and sisters ever went farther than a study. And my Grandma is still staunch Catholic, as are all the kids. My grandpa was raised Mormon, and I think believes, but doesn't go to church.

  My mom's mom was inactive for years too, but became real active again right before she died.

  My dad was DF'd when he remarried. He had just got his privileges back on the night he OD'd on hydrocodone.

  My mom is the only one left.

  We're leaving for the funeral tomorrow. We're taking Ean Evans and his wife. Ean has been in Nashville receiving radiation for cancer.

  First Leon, now Billy. I was devastated when we got the call in the middle of the night.

  There truly is a hell of a band in heaven right now.

  What would be the iceburg to the WT's Titanic?

  the illustration in my question was inspired by the great mr flipper who likened going back to the borg as "swimming back to the titanic".

  it seems to me that the many and various things that woke us all up are like iceflows to the wtbs,little bumps that they shrug off and ignore,it dosn't seem to matter that these things are huge to us,and shattered our faith that the wt had any connection with truth.. so as the u.n debacle,peadophile scandals,lies exposed etc etc are all ignored by the passengers on the wt titanic,the band is still playing and the ship is unsinkable from their point of view.. what would be the iceburg that would rip a hole in the side of this floating ship of lies?.

  i cannot think of anything bigger than the things it now shrugs off,any ideas?.

  Mormon Might try to converte me! Help!

  I grew up in SLC Utah, surrounded by Mormons. My husband's late Grandpa was in the Quorum of the Twelve. I am directly related to Brigham Young, and my ancestor is the architect of the Salt Lake temple.

  Their beliefs are really cooky. So it may be easier to politely tell them you aren't interested. We've heard it enough, should be able to say it too!

  I agree that the Mormons are generally nice people. I like their family values, and classes for homemaking, childrearing, etc. They encourage girls to go to college and get degrees. This is usually done while their boyfriends are on their missions. That way they can work and support them after marriage so they can finish their education. The majority of my classmates have gone to college, married as adults, and have good careers.

  Much to both of my grandpa's disappointment, I won't even consider Mormonism since we left Dubdom.
