my whole freaking family is still in.

i am 5th generation and i use to have tons and tons of "friends" that are still in.

when i was little my dad was co substitute for years so we got to travel alot and meet even more jws.

Since you were "In So Deep" more than board post are necessary....but what is needed may not be available yet....or availabe in your area.

I just got off the phone yesterday to tell a friend (my 2 closest friends are inactive or disfellowshipped) to tell him that Randy Watters father had past. I sent this friend to meet Randy about 20 years ago. Face to Face contact is so important.

I'm thinking of designing a 2 year game plan for those like ourselves. Ideally it should be administerd by a mental health profession (I'm not saying that you are crazy). My game plan will be put in a pdf, to be used at the person leisure. Self help may be the only help for now.

(Currently I don't have the time to put this together........and it may already be in existent...I just have not seen it. The only thing similar that I knew of, the organization is no longer around. So if some one knows of anything please let us know.)

Also, based on your post, I see the benefit of the "artful fade". I would like to see an "Artful Fade" guide lines in pdf. It would be list of How To steps on fading that come from the comments on this board with all of the scarsasm removed.

This board, other experiences, and Randy Watters site www.freeminds.org (which I'm sure you have seen) are a great place to start. I wish I could give you more.

RANDY WATTER'S DAD JUST DIED

randy watters, owner of freeminds.org father just died a couple of hours ago from pneumonia and alzheimers.

he was 86 years old.

as randy has been tireless in his efforts to help countless people come out of the wts, i would like to express my sincere condolences to him at this time.. .

Please except my condolence. I met you about 20 years ago, at the EX-JW convention in Pennsylvania. It was a pleasure meeting you.

You also took the time to meet with a good friend of mine at your location in California.

I feel you. I have turned down advances before and after becoming a Witness also…..it was more like I ran away from them (like speedy Gonzales)……and I still do.

So that is an issue that I want to deal with, since I want to date socially, with the possibility of getting married, and having kids soon.

The Watchtower upbringing can be a negative force as regards to socializing in general, (but definitely with gorgeous women)

However, because of this “stance”, I feel at ease talking to the Witnesses, the fact that I have read (in my heyday) almost every apostate book out there doesn’t bother me from talking to the Witnesses at all.

I think there were a lot of people who broke one rule to stay in the organization….marrying a non-believer, going to college, etc. If the organization would not have down college, I may be there today myself.

Being raised a Witness, it takes a “minute” (I’ll say 3 to 10 years, with help) to get "right", if ever. Many will never get help, and will never be “right”.

My Dad Died Today

he has been ill for some time, but it was still unexpected.

he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.

i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .

I have not heard anything recently, or within the last 20 year, about weight, from the organization.

As I know quite a few big people, and there is no talk of them not "living up" to the organization's standards because of it.

I do remember reading somewhere, a few years ago, that the Society was talking people out of claiming to be of the Anointed. ( I think it was an attempt to get the Anointed numbers down. ???)

I agree with your words precisely, I feel comfort in the Kingdom Hall also, and deep down I wish the things I taught, and believed with all of my heart were true.

At times on my way back from Atlantic City, New Jersey USA, I see a Kingdom Hall, that a few times I wanted to get off the bus, go to the Hall, find my wife, have my kids, and live happily ever after…….either waiting on the New System……or just living in the Witness world…in this system.

Yes, I have a distrust of organized religion, but I don’t feel the love and family feel that I felt in the Watchtower. I notice that some on this board did not feel love from the organization or from their congregation, or their elders. I had a good congregation and good and loving elders (and this probably shapes my viewpoint). Even now I would like to create that sense of connection today.

I must meet you (and others like you) in person some day.

I saw on another post that you went to the Memorial also, and had a good time. I respect that……no spectacle and no drama needed.

Would You Picket A Kingdom Hall?

i know some zealots that have carried signs and peacefully picketed kingdom halls, especially on the memorial.. what do you think about that?.

Not Getting Over It! Ex-JWs Face Residual Psychological, Physical Damage

this is not an essay or "my story".

these are just a few personal observations from someone who lived, breathed and.

slept the jw religion for over 50 years.

Great post. I love it. Just being on boards and going to Meetups is not enough for complete (if complete recovery is possible for all).

I started to put together a list of mental Health professionals to help with this issues, but I could not find a lot, only 1 which I believe was in Philadelphia PA USA.

I personally met Randy Waters and Steve Hassan, and they were great starting points. I would like to see a 6 month to 24 month clinical mental health program just for JW's. I think it is needed.

Where are you located? I would like to meet you.

The entry level jobs, especially in this economy, is distateful to me.

I gave up a 4 year college schollarship, at a high ranking university.

One of the things I have considered putting together, is a group of "programs" (going back to college, getting higher paying jobs, getting a divorce, getting married, etc.) to jump start or boost the pleasures, income, and experiences that normal life has to offer.

Keep us posted....and keep us posted on your progress.
