But instead I'll just content myself with asking if any of you have heard of the Book Study change?... ;-)

over the last two years, as i moved back to the catholic church, i have been confronted with objections by several people regarding certain catholic teachings.
these concerns are almost always the same, and are founded in mythology created by the watchtower society, and some evangelical denominations.
god can and does use fallible men to do infallible things?
Give the WT long enough and they will become the RCC.
They've only had 130 years so far. 130 years after Christ there was a good deal of doctrinal development still going on. They weren't conducting any Inquisitions or going on any Crusades. It took hundreds of years for them to consolidate their doctrines and rise to power.
The WTS would love to do the same. It's interesting that the WTS doctrine is primarily aimed specifically at tearing down RCC teachings.
Note: In case you missed it, there's more to #4 above than meets the eye...
How can anyone claim that I have no life?
Since I'm not going to Sunday meetings anymore, I had some extra time on my hands. This is what I did with it today. I blatantly ripped off WasanEdlerOnce's blank WT covers and bent them to my own evil purposes.
As a product of MAD and CRACKED magazines and The Onion, nothing makes me laugh as hard as the hilarious parody covers you guys come up with, so I couldn't resist trying a few of my own. Warning: low-brow humor attempts ahead... and I hope these pictures come out.
thursday i bought my stone.
they lay it in 6 weeks.
cost me $1 thousand 500 dollars.
Happy haunting, Grace!
Now don't be too eager to cross to the other side. Those who do never return!
Maybe because the liquor is better there...
Omar Khayyam summed up what I'd like pretty well:
Ah, with the Grape my fading Life provide,
And wash the Body whence the Life has died,
And lay me, shrouded in the living Leaf,
By some not unfrequented Garden-side.
That ev'n my buried Ashes such a snare
Of Vintage shall fling up into the Air
As not a True-believer passing by
But shall be overtaken unaware.

Interestingly, the WT's teaching about the Governing Body is basically equivalent to the Catholic teaching about the Pope.
Both admit they are imperfect sinners. Both claim that when acting in their official capacity, they are guided by God and protected by his spirit inasmuch as they teach according to his word.
Yet the JWs will bash the Church's claims of "infallibility" and "apostolic succesion," not realizing they subscribe to these very teachings themselves.

cabasilas quoting the Pope: "More than a physical place, hell is the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy."
How incredibly evasive. Note that his Popeness does not deny that Hell is a physical place. He just chooses to emphasize the non-physical qualities.
If you teach that all souls are immortal, and the ones that displease God don't go to heaven but instead are in a place of suffering, but you don't want to seem like a bastard and say they'll be roasted alive for eternity, you've got to equivocate like you've never equivocated before.
i watched "children of men" a couple of nights ago.
it was pretty interesting, but i have to say i didn't get it completely.
maybe because i missed the beginning.
The Village was crappy like most Shyamalan (sp?) movies.
It was not scary, the "twist" was obvious from the beginning, the acting was embarrassing.
Still I would have to say Signs is worse. But just barely.
Children of Men annoyed me as well, it was a much better movie, but as I recall it just kind of left us hanging. I guess that was the point, but still not a totally satisfying cinematic experience. Maybe I need to see it again while drinking.
The first Matrix was very cool. And of course there are all kinds of JW parallels. The second one had a bit too much philosophizing but some amazing action sequences, and a lot of slow-witted folks didn't get what was going on. The third one really lowered the bar and I've basically forgotten what it even was about.
Now here is something that may be controversial: I like but don't love the Lord of the Rings movies. I say the reason they're so long is because half the scenes are entirely in slow motion. Did we really need to see Frodo almost drowning for no reason for fifteen minutes before Sam rescues him, cries on his shoulder, and slips him the tongue?
Fight Club was awesome. Even though it did resort to the "Secret Window- The Protagonist is Also the Bad Guy" ending it was executed well.
well hello all....yes...i'm a newbie.... and yep...i am an inactive witness.
haven't been to a meeting in a while.
my entire family are witnesses, actually had a relative that proclaimed to be of the 144000...thats how deep....this is third generation witnesses here in this family.
Hi Mary, welcome.
Personally I do not wonder if "it's all winding down" to Armageddon, when I realized the WTS was full of crap the first belief to go was the one about 6 billion people being slaughtered any day now because they didn't agree with me.
The End has been "imminent" since Russell first picked up a Bible. Life has gone on for several billion years thus far and I have a feeling it won't stop for at least another few decades or so. ;-)
Yes USA is in the crapper but keep in mind that humans got along for a friggin' long time before the USA was ever a twinkle in Washington's eye. There is no guarantee it'll be around for our kids but that's what happens, empires rise and fall, religions are created and die out, life goes on.
what expressions get you going?.
i like "it's all good!!!
".
Awesome. Awesome to the max.
