I watched "Children of Men" a couple of nights ago. It was pretty interesting, but I have to say I didn't get it completely. Maybe because I missed the beginning. Just another end of the world story? A christ story? a story about immigration and prejudice?

And then there's "The Village," which seems to me to be entirely pointless. Entirely pointless.

Comments? Any movies you don't get?

"The Village" was strange, but it seemed to be about a group of people living in their own reality. Only the older adults knew there was a world outside of their village. The "elders" used fear telling the children there were monsters in the woods to keep them from venturing out. There were no monstors, just a few suits the older men would put on to scare the villagers.

I can't remember how it ended. It's been a couple of years since I watched it.

We haven't seen "Children of Men" yet.

I love the Village. I swear the writer must have some experience with JW's.

I don't get most of David Lynch's stuff. Mulholland Drive went pretty much over my head.

I hated "Fight Club". The previews made it look like guys who fought each other after work for kicks. Cool idea. Then it became this overblown piece of crap film about terrorism. Talk about disappointing.

Page, you are crazy. Fight Club is the ultimate guy flick. No other movie comes close, except for maybe the Godfather movies. Honestly, I have never met a dude that wasn't totally on boeard with Fight Club. I think you need to get together with one of your guy friends and watch it, no women in the room, and pound some brews back. Also, you might check to make sure your balls are still there. No offence intended, it's just a guy thing.

The Village. How can you miss the point of the Village being an exJW? It is one of the best metaphors for the cult experience I have ever seen. If watching it sober didn't do it for you, watch it high.

maybe that's my problem - I'm not watching movies while stoned. Ahhh, don't drink, don't dope, don't smoke...I probably miss a lot of fun. So here's a movie I totally got, but since I was the only one in the theater laughing, I think I was the only one who got it: "The War of the Roses." Danny DeVito directed it and he was very brave - only chickened out in one scene.

Another one that I laughed at and no one else did was "The Decline of the American Empire."

Yeah, I don't get The Matrix movies. I need to watch them again but they were so boring. I have to watch everything on closed caption, you know, read the words as they are talking. I miss so much sometimes doing it that way. What are those movies about, anyway?

I have to say I only watched about half of the first Matrix movie - the plot was so obvious and although I like the actors, the movie just didn't grab me. I've watched the Godfather movies just to see what the attraction is - they are engrossing all right, but so violent.
