Sometimes I think Jehovah's Witnesses overuse the word "historic"
by slimboyfat inat the beginning of the may broadcast stephen lett said this was a historic broadcast.
he explained that every member of the governing body had hosted a show and they were starting over again.
that was all the explanation he gave.

Deborah
by berrygerry ini, like many others, was furiously emailing about deborah when the issue of only male elders came up.. it seemed curious that angus didn't address deborah, as he surely knew of it.. thankfully, ol' geoff, and wt, cannot resist trying to get in a last word, which opened the door for angus.
(he's one cool customer.).
341 in his written statement provided to the royal commission following the close of thepublic hearing, mr jackson offered the relevant scriptural references to which headverted but was unable to provide during the hearing.

I would love to know how scientific knowledge from around the time the bible was written compares with contemporaneous biblical information. -

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

Lev.11:38,39 does not seem to indicate that Israelites ate dead animals with impunity. They were unclean for a time and uncleanness is not something God likes. -

We cannot abstain from blood. Our bodies need it and they keep producing it. If bodies fail, a transfusion would be acceptable.
by quincemyles ingod prohibited the eating of blood.
in genesis, leviticus and deuteronomy the edict is clear: "do not eat blood !
" when the apostles said "abstain from blood," jewish christians must have contextually understood that to mean "do not eat blood.

True. Its about the source of the blood. If blood is willingly given, then there is no issue. The bible says there is no love greater than when one gives life to another. Giving blood is like giving a measure of life. It should be applauded. -

God prohibited the eating of blood. In Genesis, Leviticus and Deuteronomy the edict is clear: "Do not eat blood !" When the Apostles said "abstain from blood," Jewish Christians must have contextually understood that to mean "do not eat blood."
For Jehovah's Witnesses "abstain from blood" means blood should not be transfused. They illustrate: “If a doctor were to tell you to abstain from alcohol, would that simply mean that you should not take it through your mouth but that you could transfuse it directly into your veins? Of course not! So, too, ‘abstaining from blood’ means not taking it into your body at all.” - Live forever on a paradise earth. Ch. 25. p.216 par. 22.
Eating blood cannot be the same as transfusing blood in the same way that eating a kidney can not be the same as a transplantation. The former is a digestive or "destructive" process while the latter leads to a constructive process involving the compatible allograft performing its normal constructive function.
We can abstain from alcohol, but we can not abstain from blood in the way that Jehovah's witnesses want us to understand the phrase "abstain from blood." We need compatible blood regardless of its source.cWhen the body fails in its hemopoietic function, the prudent thing to do is accept a transfusion if deemed therapeutic.

Hi Sankara. I'm from Zambia, Just stopped attending meetings. I have had several meetings with elders on my fade. Last Sunday was the last time I met them. As I met them, I took with me the book "you can live forever on a paradise earth" and showed them page 154 paragraph 8 and the illustration on that page which promotes the teaching that some of those living in 1914 will not die until they enter the new system of things. I then asked them a simple question: "Is the information on this page true or false?" They knew it was false but they deliberately could not say it! They started talking about how the light gets brighter. I said:"Gentlemen, my question is not on light, my question is on whether that statement is true or not." As anticipated, their office of elder just couldn't afford them the freedom to say it was false. If they did, then they would be admitting that their source of information the FDS/G.B printed 18 million copies of toxic information and are party to that. I stressed on how such misinformation negatively affects lives like mine. The meeting concluded with them stressing that I continue attending meetings despite the misinformation I would be subjected to on the 1914 king Jesus and his Father. My Jesus became king in 33 C.E. I find it unbearable lately to see the recitals of 1914 and the attachment of Jesus to that falsehood. I find the men that perpetuate these toxic teachings to be very unkind to the rank and file. TATT will take time here in Africa as many of the JWS here are convinced that applying critical thinking to the teachings of the G.B is a sin. The relatively low levels of education in this part of the world means religion will reign supreme regardless of the quality of the religions. The enlightened are conditioned into thinking that questioning the history of the FDS and independent thinking are a first step to being Satan like, to be apostate, so many choose to follow blindly regardless of being in the information age and having the mental skills necessary to know the watchtower society for what it is, a purely human institution with religious leanings. On a positive note, i would want to say for many here, having some kind of organized religion has been better than not. Only when many begin to really care more about truth will the jw belief system become toxic to them, as it has to me. -

Did God create life? Did life have a beginning?

Life is passed on from previously existing life. Life can not be created but can be destroyed. This rule has never been broken. Life was not created as the Jehovah's witnesses believe. Life has always existed, Science teaches that life had a beginning, well, that too aren't correct. Once science gets a good universal definition of what life is, then they may be able to come to the conclusion that life had no beginning. Random thoughts.
