OldHippie, this separation between CC and WTS is a rather new concept also outside the US. It was introduced first in Germany in 1999. This was related to their legal case to be registered as a privileged church of public law.

Is anyone left at Bethel who knew Judge Rutherford?
by VM44 indoes any of our former bethel workers know if there is anyone still at bethel (brooklyn) that personally knew judge rutherford?.
rutheford died in 1942, so there is a very real possibility that there is now no one around who knew the man.. as for charles taze russell, he died in 1916 and so there is no one still alive who knew him, let alone even met him!
even a baby born in 1916 would be 92 years old today!.

I wonder if among the Russellites there are still people who met CTR.

Watchtower spins quote from seismologist, October 1 Pubic Edition.
by Open mind inoctober 1, pubic edition, page 7. .
"if it seems to you that now more people than ever before are affected by earthquakes, you are correct.
'suddenly we are seeing a spurt in seismic activity globally," observed indian seismologist r. k. chadha in 2007.

Sorry, I do not see the point. Where excatly do they spin the quote? Keep in mind, the WT no longer teaches that there has been an increase in earthquakes since 1914.

ALERT FRON BETHEL (this may be it)
by Hiddenwindow ina prominent bethel elder shared this information with another elder: there are some bethel workers who have been invited to leave bethel, but are refusing to do so and are taking the society to court while still residing in brooklyn.
if this is true, this could be the reason behind the sale of brooklyn property.

slimboyfat, I guess you refer to the case of Olaf Fichtner. He used to be a Special Pioneer and later sued the Society for a certificate of employment. The case about pensions was settled out of court. That is why the Society always stresses that their current procedure has not resulted from a court rule. Their procedure is: when a Fulltime Servant leaves, they pay his pension insurance ex post (!) upon request(!). (I am not sure if details have changed but this was the procedure some years ago.)

No More gum chewing
by Iwonder17 inwe have this hounder in our hall who doesn't like people chewing gum in the hall.
now i can understand kids but come on..... so he gets up there a few weeks ago and says:.
"a brother told me that he was talking with a gb member, and the gb member said that chewing gum is rude".

I have not seen it myself but years ago an active JW and collector of old JW-material told me that chewing gums were condemned in the Golden Age-magazine.

Very interesting stuff. "WARNING: The Living Bible, The New Living Translation, and The New Testament [Johannes Greber] should never be quoted in any publications of Jehovah’s Witnesses."

What are your plans post JWD?
by penny2 inwill you be joining another forum or leaving it all behind?.
i took to heart simon's thread about moving on past the "ex-jw" phase and i've been spending less time at the computer.
it's comforting though, to come back on here occasionally and see how my cyber friends are doing.. so i'm glad there are options - i've noticed some familiar faces on new forums - there may be access to jwd in some form..... .....and there's a whole world out there!.

I think I'll be leaving it all behind.
