  the yearbook 2004 (p.13-15) says that there is a "course in improved english comprehension" for the watchtower translators.

  some people have been trained in patterson.

  in 2002 and 2003 they traveled around the world and conducted three-month-trainings with the translation teams in the branch offices.

In 2002 and 2003 they traveled around the world and conducted three-month-trainings with the translation teams in the branch offices. 1,660 translators for more than 150 languages have been put thru this program.
  
  I wonder why translators need a "Course in Improved English Comprehension". Is it because they are not qualified enough to understand an English text? Or is it because the original English Watchtower is so full of loaded language and between-the-lines-meassages that the translators have a hard time translating it?

  i knew of a couple that left their mates so that they could be with one another.

  the elders promptly disfellowshipped them.

  the couple made it known immediately, that they were going to apply for reinstatement as soon as possible.

  Talking about filthy people: we had a couple in our congregation: He was a filthy, ugly, old bachelor. She was filthy and ugly, had several kids from different men (always wondered how that was possible), divorced. (This description of the two is not exaggerated!) Once, she went from house-to-house in the territory a JW was living. The JWs Neigbor said later: "What she said was okay - but she could have a shower once in a while!. The elders had a hard time keeping her away from pioneering.
  
  Well, in the end the filthy, ugly, old bachelor and the filthy, ugly woman married. The thing was that she was not free to marry. So, they got DFed and reinstated after a year or so. That was what they said they were planning from the beginning.

  Call Me Neanderthal Man

  i have recently moved from hamburg, germany to near the place the bones of the neanderthal man were found, actually the "neandertal" ("neander valley").

  so, now you can officially call me "neanderthal man"... :-) .

  since my computer is running again i hope to join the discussions more often.

  i was once told that john denver (folk singer of songs like rocky mountain high and such) was on the tonight show one night.

  he was a huge patriot and apparently had no love whatsoever for jw's.

  apparently as the story goes, john gets up to sing a patriotic song and before he begins tells the audience "if there are any jehovah witnesses in the audience, you may want to leave right now.

  Should cannibalism be allowed? What do you think?

  "the libertarian argument that 'what goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults is no one else's business'--a line used to justify everything from sodomy to pornography to artificial contraception--is being put to the test in a courtroom in the german capital of berlin.. "it seems that armin meiwes, 42, a computer geek from rotenburg, had a fantasy for cannibalism.

  He got sentenced: 8,5years for manslaughter - not murder which would have resulted in a lifelong sentence.
  Another possibility would have been "demanded killing" which would have resulted in 5years. The latter is actually for doctors following the wish of deadly ill people.
