What strikes me is that the land is not intended to be sold but to be leased - generating a constant income.

This is the part where the Valley Farm Corporation is mentioned:
Trustee Zeisel reported that she spoke with Garry Thomsen regarding the idea of leasing lands of the Valley Farms Corporation and fields northerly of Route 299 adjoining the Wallkill River for the purpose of developing a public parking lot. He said that it would be an expensive proposition. Mayor Nyquist suggested that a meeting be set up to discuss this with the owners and Attorney Zand.
I wonder if the WTS was willing to lease the land. Be reminded that they are now erecting hundreds of appartments in NY without any apparent need. Maybe they are concentrating on this business. -

Will the WTS ever drop the reporting of time?
by TweetieBird inwhat do you think would happen if the society received "new light" and it was no longer a requirement to turn in a field service report, it is now between each publisher and jehovah what they do as far as witnessing?
personally i don't think that will ever happen because that is the only way they can maintain control over everyone in the congregation.

Ray Franz reports in his second book "In Search of Christian Freedom" that some suggestions have been made to end the reporting but all where blocked.

did any of you read the entire bible once...?

- i remember that it was mentioned in the congregation many times that this would be a requirement that we were to read the bible in its totality at least once and especially as elders!.
i myself never had the time (or energy) to read the scriptures from cover to cover.
