This is crazy if it's true. I can't remember right now, but my uncle is either a district overseer or circuit overseer in Mexico... I'm gonna have to call my mom to find out. But he's like 60 years old, and he depends a lot on money from going KH to KH. Without this job privilege, I'm not sure what he's going to do. It should be interesting, whatever it is...

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

Preparing for Armageddon
by Wordly Andre inwhen i was a kid i can remember really being scared that armageddon was coming, you know the crap about it's almost here, and i would never live to see high school and all my classmates would be killed by jemima, i used to have nightmares when i was a kid over this.
i know of some family and friends who have since left the org, some have told me stories of how their family would prepare for armageddon, like keeping food and extra copies of watchterror and awacks, and have some kind of rehearsal for the end, some sounds like those old 1950's movietone shorts about preparing for the a bomb, did you or your family do anything weird to prepare for armageddon?

We prepared for the Big A by going to all the meetings. I still didn't see how that was preparing us, but whatever. At least Oompa got a survival backpack.

KurtBethel visits Beth Sarim!
by kurtbethel insunday, may 18th was my big day.
i decided to go to beth sarim, home of the princes and ancient worthies.
so i loaded up the truck and rolled out, wondering what do you do when you meet someone so ancient that the roman empire was a mere twinkling in jehovah's eye.

What an embarassing piece of history for the JW's. And it still stands for all to see.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
by V injust another interesting comment i have received on the watchtower comments youtube channel.

Damn, you handled that conversation very well, V! This kid may not understand everything you're saying right now, but he'll be thankful in a couple of years. I know when I was 16, I would NOT have been ready to handle all of this information. Everything comes at its due time...

I'm firmly convinced that anyone who is the slightest bit sad about death is not a true believer. If you really believed that you'd come back to life after you die, people dying wouldn't even phase you in the slightest. "oh well, I guess I'll need to pass time without them" is all you'd think. No sadness whatsoever. If you cry at a funeral, you are and APOSTATE. In my opinion.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are APOSTATE....but I agree with you. If you really believed that they will be resurrected, then why be toooo sad? I've been hearing about and seeing witnesses that keep grieving over dead loved ones as if they're NEVER going to see them again. I mean, get over it. It's ok to be sad for a little while, but not to keep it up forever! I lost my dad when I was 19. Sure I grieved and I still miss him every day, but I have full confidence that I will see him again! That hope, that faith, is what makes me HAPPY, not upset.

What's Your MAIN Reason For Not Believing In "The Truth"?
by minimus inmy mother had this discussion yesterday.
basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??
you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.

Doctrinally speaking, the #1 thing on my list is that they teach that Jesus is NOT the mediator for all of mankind. He is only the mediator for the 144,000.
Non-doctrinally speaking, it's all of the things that they've done and all of their false prophecies that they fail to own up to.

Yeah - 1919 HAS to go first.
by hamsterbait inon this board some have said that 1914 cannot be ditched, otherwise the 1919 faithful and discreet slave and its appointment will not hold water.. my recent - yes - fake article showed, using the tried and tested methods, how this could be done.. the only way to ditch the 1914 teaching is to uncouple any doctrines which depend on that date.. separation of sheep and goats since 1914 gone.. the generation change has now gone.. the invisible return of christ in 1914 has gone.
( watered down to "turned his attention" to the earth.).
all that remains is the appointment of the "slave" 3 and a half years later in 1919. the order in which this is happening is following the sequence above, which i reckoned would happen, after i heard the talk in 1993 about the "celestial phenomena", and the new application of "when you see these things.".

I hope I have my family out before that happens.. I can't stand this flip-flopping, talkin' out of both sides of the mouth, spirit-directed but not inspired, non-prophecy prophecy spewing religion...

1919? 1914? 1975? None of these dates are going to matter in a few years...
by Alpaca infor those of us who got burned by the borg's bogus bible chronology.... once a few more years go by (at least by 2020 or 2030), the borg will not be able to fit their supposed divinely arranged role into some kind of bible chronology unless they completely overhaul their explanations of the prophecies.
that leaves them in a catch-22.
if they got it wrong, what's to make them any more believable in the future?.
-
civicsi00
Guess what? Nobody cared!
This to me, personally, is the saddest part. Ask almost any JW and they will say that chronology is not that big of a deal...
I took the time to memorize the scriptures that lead to 1914, too, and overall it's been pointless knowing.

GB Anthony Morris 2007 DC Talk DESPERATE PLEADINGS
by doinmypart ingb anthony morris gave the final talk on friday's 2007 follow the christ dc.
in the talk he gives reasons for the r&f to trust the fds specifically the gb.. the talk is nauseating, but shows how desperate the gb has become.
they're losing control of the r&f and they know it.. jwd member booby originally posted this speech on the "gb solidifies ownership" thread.

Does anyone know if there is any way to know when/where these GB members will be giving a talk like this?
