Don't worry. The rest of the leadership hasn't learned either. Rutherfraud even attempted his own date-setting and then lost about 3/4 of the membership.

The Adventists that taught Charles Russell made many false Armagedon Prophecies...and still HE didn't learn??
by Witness 007 inwilliam miller the founder of adventists preached that armagedon would come between march 21st 1843 - march 21st 1844...nothing happened.. when nothing happened he said: "i confess my error, and acknowledge my dissappointment..." april 18th 1884 was set as the new date....then october 22nd 1844. russell claims he learnt everthing he knows about chronlogy from the same adventists....then he goes ahead and makes afew false prophecies of his own.....don't they learn anything from history???

The supreme arrogance of these people! They have the balls to reference the UN and state that "the ability to practice religion freely is a basic human right" when they themselves do NOT provide this to their adherents! Not only that, they demonize any who question their doctrines and prohibit precious family members to speak to them!
I am glad France imposed this tax on them. I just wish it would happen everywhere. It would surely put the WT out of business quick.

Another GEM from the 9/15/10 WT
by civicsi00 inthis is taken word for word from the study article entitled: "unity identifies true worship", page 13, paragraph 8:.
"similarly today, a governing body composed of spirit-anointed christians contributes to the unity of the worldwide congregation.
the governing body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages.

When did the GB start to figure so prominently in the lit?
If I'm not mistaken, the WT writers have been making references to the "slave" or the "Governing Body" at least once in every issue all this year and part of last year. The GB is definitely asserting its authority more and more. Perhaps they're afraid of "thinking" JW's who might want to leave and take their families with them?

Did the WT totally "luck out" with World War I starting in 1914?
by lepermessiah inmy family is still fixated on the 1914 date, simply because world war i started that year.. i told them i will agree it is a significant year in world history, but that the 1914 date as presented by jw's is based on lies and charlatanry.. i said "i think the wt really lucked out with 1914 with wwi starting that year - it keeps most jw's stuck on that date" .
the standard answer is "well, that was the year everything went haywire"...... let the circular reasoning continue .

Yes, yes they did. I'm going to start a thread one of these days detailing exactly why I feel this way too. 1914, in my opinion, is not a very significant year in "world" history. It was the starting year for a European war, that's it. It was not even the date for the first "world war".
JW's totally lucked out because this is the only thing they have that they are able to hang onto, and it's only because something happened (it certainly wasn't what they predicted). They have rewritten their history in order to keep this date intact with their doctrine. I bet that if nothing had happened that year, this religion would NOT be as big as they are now.
They will never let go of 1914. They can't. Their existence is hardwired to this date.

Holy crap SD-7, good catch! I only briefly started skimming the "True Unity" article and then I went back to re-read the quote you provided! I almost couldn't believe it..
This is an outstanding WT (by "outstanding", I mean it has some great quotes that can be used against them). I started skimming the other articles, and I can already it's got plenty of other gems.
Check this one out, page 23:
"The anointed and their other sheep companions recognize that by following the lead of the modern-day Governing Body, they are in fact following their Leader, Christ."
How unBiblical! I know it shouldn't surprise me, but I'm glad these quotes are all in one WT, instead of having to piece them together from the various past articles.

This is taken word for word from the Study Article entitled: "Unity Identifies True Worship", page 13, paragraph 8:
"Similarly today, a Governing Body composed of spirit-anointed Christians contributes to the unity of the worldwide congregation. The Governing Body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God's Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah."
There you have it, people. Straight outta the horse's mouth: Jehovah is the Grand Person behind all the false prophecies, flip-flops, you-name-it that Jehovah's Witnesses are responsible for. You can't make this stuff up!! I'm thankful for the Writing Dept when they write this stuff.

Help with a question. Need W-4/1/2010
by maninthemiddle inthis question is in the now famous 4/15 watchtower in the do you rememebr section.. i want to know what the source article said, because i can hardly agree with this statement as written.
i am assuming this is in relation to the "translation" of the nwt, but it is misleading to the point of fiction.. can anyone look at the 4/1 watchtower and tell me what is says?.

13 Third, holy spirit is at work in bringing Bible truths to light. (Prov. 4:18) This magazine has long been used by “the faithful and discreet slave” as the primary channel for dispensing increased light. (Matt. 24:45) For example, consider our understanding of those who make up “this generation” mentioned by Jesus.
The GB is playing its "mass cult control" cards right just before letting the "generation" change out of the bag. Look at how they begin paragraph 13 above. They begin by bringing out the first big gun: Prov 4:18. That particular scripture does NOT reference the Holy Spirit AT ALL. Does it matter? NO! Second, they like to point out that it is the "slave" that dispenses "increased light" about Bible truths (through the WT magazine, of course). And how does the "slave" bring out "increased light"? Through the work of the holy spirit! And yet, they're not "inspired". Pfffftt.... This reminds of a particular paragraph in ISOCF where Ray Franz quoted Ron Frye and said that there is no real difference between claiming to be "inspired" and "revealing" new truths.
So the GB pulls out its two main guns: Prov 4:18 and Matt 24:45-47 to present it's latest interpretation. They're not playing around here. They meant serious business when preparing this material. And by serious business, I mean they are trying really hard to create some more urgency for the R/F. Too bad it won't work. They R/F don't even know what they believe. They just follow orders.
Can you say: Pathetic!!

Is this what the members of the Governing Body want? Needless deaths? What are they going to say to God and Jesus when they die? "Look, we allowed all these people to die for you, God! For you! Aren't we grand?"
They should be extremely ashamed of themselves for allowing this unBiblical doctrine to continue.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Cancer is indeed a terrible disease.
Unfortunately, you won't find the cure for cancer among mainstream medicine. I hope you don't mind my saying that the cure for cancer does exist, but not in the form of a pill. I've done quite a bit of research, and I'm still learning, but the cure for cancer is in our food, the right sort of food. If you ever get the chance, look for a movie called The Beautiful Truth. Part of the movie details the life of a German doctor who discovered the cure for cancer back in the 30's but his research was suppressed. The doctor's name was Max Gerson.
My wife lost a sister due to a surgery that went wrong. She went in to have her gall bladder removed, the doctors then discovered a tumor, and they attempted to remove it. I won't go into detail here, but she didn't make it.
We regret not knowing about this movie or the information we've learned since then.
It's my opinion that mainstream medicine is only out to get everyone's money. Just my opinion.
Just thought I'd mention it.
