Grassyknoll: Because stating that it is partially the work of Satan implies that being gay is evil when other than select statements in the Bible there is no evidence that it is evil, and the many wonderful gay people in the world are a testatment to the fact that there is nothing wrong about it. You are right in saying that it is not just JW who claim that homosexuality is wrong. However, as they are the one true religion, having vast knowledge beyond all the masses, it does put them in the spotlight with their views.

grassyknoll: You're doing the same thing in your statement. Being hung over is a physical feeling, has nothing to do with emotion. If you're equating a physical feeling to being unhappy, then based on your arguments isn't that the same as someone gaining pleasure from homosexual acts?

Grassyknoll: I did not say that the article specifically stated it was 50/50. You said that “… the article said homosexuality may or may not be genetic.”
What that means is that there is just as likely a chance that it IS genetic as it is likely that it is NOT, per the WTBS stance stated in that article referenced by you. According to that statement, both options are EQUALLY viable. That is unless your paraphrase was incorrect.
However, suppression is clearly stated as the correct course of action, as stated in the article you just quoted:
“But they fight that unnatural, Satan-inspired desire—and they do not give in to it.”
By that very sentence they are stating a different opinion than what you read in the Young People Ask article in regards to the possibility of genetic motivators for homosexual tendencies.
So is this change in opinion, from the 83 Watchtower to the recent Young People Ask article you read a demonstration of “new light,” or is it instead a subtle policy change made my men in an effort to stay within the modest, never too far to either extreme, boundaries of social acceptance?
I think we can all agree that the two statements made are conflicting. As with other issues and practices that become increasingly hard to sustain within the organization, due to changes on society as a whole. This seems to be something that can be re-evaluated as the FS sees fit. -

Well I would agree that it does not make sense to be a part of something that you are not willing to comply with the practices of, regardless of a religion, company, school, etc. I hope he is happy as well.

So going along with that train of thought....Since the FS does not categorically deny the chance that homosexuality could be genitical, then their stance is that it is just as likely to be gentical as it is not to be genitical, 50/50. If that's the case, then they are admitting there's a good chance that it is genitics, in which case it is a natural human phenomenon. And if it is a natural human thing, isnt there the chance that those Bible writers, being somewhat ignorant in those times, took the actions of homosexual people in that time period as a sign of their "wickedness" simply because those who were open with it were from pagan nations? Could it be that their understanding of human creation, as made by "Jehovah" himself, was inaccurate at the time those words were written? Does it really make sense for a human being, with the same emotions and spirituality as a hetereosexual, to supress his God given desires simply to appease ancient opinions based on ignorance?
If the tables were turned and we as heteros were on the less common side of genetics, than we in turn would be the ones that were unholy based on the Bible for our desires to be with the opposite sex. How can any active Witness, who's purpose it is to proclaim "Jehovah's" love, truly tell someone to supress their natural tendancies? Do you honestly believe any homosexual simply woke up one day and said to themselves "I'm tired of the opposite sex, I'm going to be gay?" I think not. -

Yeah don't you love those questions about sex? who touched who first, over the clothes? who went under the clothes? who took off whose clothes? why type of sex? oral? anal? condoms? did you finish? Sometimes it seems more like they're gathering info for a porn they're going to write. Maybe that's what all the elders meetings are REALLY about, hashing all the juicy details of the sex details they hear about. haha. JK. ewww.

So I am always curious about fellow ex dubs disfellowshipping experience. Mine was pretty retarded, well they had every reason to DF me, but the whole process was asinine. I was actually straight foreward with the elders. I felt there was no need not to be upfront about everything because I am not the type of person to hide what I've done. So the day after my fornicat-tion (Doug Heffernan voice) was done I called up my book study overseer and told him to arrange JC. While usually these proceedings can take several meetings this one did not. We talked for about 45 minutes to an hour, during which time they didn't want to get into any of my motivations or reasons for doing what I'd done (which were more than just what was on the surface), they "deliberated" for about 30 minutes and then gave me the boot. My mother told me later that my father had been told by them that after I left they all cried. mmmmm hmmmm....yes I can really see all the reasons they have to cry. Another mind to control just walked out that door. DAMN. Oh well, on to the next lamb to slaughter.
