Have 4 children married 27 yrs am still a little disoriented at times. Takes awhile to learn new skills learn new things? join a book group? and let go the fear its paralizing......remember there are alot of us survivors...... places like this forum are a good place to do some healthy venting and laughing
here is something interesting that pertains to the action of shunning.
the book called extreme was written by psychologists.. 1.
Dr. Marlene Winnell writes in article 3 on Religious Trauma Syndrome that A religious counselor will redirect a client back to the religion, typically with biblical guidelines to repent and become more devout. The client suffering with RTS is then likely to try harder to meet the impossible demands of the religion, much like returning to a situation of domestic violence. They will do this because of the authoritarian nature of such counseling, but fail again and feel hopeless or evil or crazy. No one concludes that it is the religion itself, which is at fault. since i left the organization, i have learned so many new and deep things.
i know some in the watchtower are intelligent, however it has been my experience, that most i've dealt with are.

i've finally got round to joining the site (after over 2 years lurking!
i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).
had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!
lately we have seen governments from all parts of the western word challenge religious institutions on a variety of issues .
such as tax status , charitable status , child sex abuse by religious institutions , etc.etc.. just how effective these investigations are or will be only time will tell.. their are many factors that will influence the outcome.. politicians make up the government , human beings make up the politicians , and the politicians have their own personal beliefs .
and the electorates these politicians represent are made up of people with their own religious preferences ,and the politicians need to keep in favour of their electorate to remain in office.. and lobbyists whether religious or otherwise do influence outcomes .an elected politician wants to hold onto his seat , his job , his income.. the australian royal commission into institutions of child sexual abuse gives me hope that these concerns will be addressed .. i can only hope so , not just for the jehovah`s witness children who have been abused , but for all children who have been abused ,by all institutions secular and religious .. smiddy.
The court of public opinion also holds sway. hopefully, a better informed public won't see witnesses as such harmless door knockers now.
it's amazing how ones shun former witnesses or faders.
a couple of people said high to me that know i do not go but the rest no.
but the main reason i post is how ridiculous the funeral talk was.
