it's been a while since i posted here- i frequently lurk, but have been busy with work, life, and not letting the fact that i was a jw for so long linger over my life and become overcome with "what if's?
yesterday we got a phone call from my mother in law who is a jw.
she was distraught because she still has my husband (her son) who is no longer a jw as her medical and legal poa.
This subject hits close to home with me. My wife will be having a kidney transplant sometime in the next 12-24 months, and I'm currently her POA. My wife knows how I feel now, but not the members of her family, MIL and SIL both pioneers and BIL headed towards badtism. It's very touchy because if I come into the open I run the risk of one of them trying to change her mind about the POA thing. I think I'd better consult an attorney. Only thing I know for sure is that she'll get whatever she needs to survive.

as witnesses we were always encouraged to reach out for the privalige of doing this or that or a whole lot of other stuff that doesnt make any scence now .. but its important in life to have something to reach out to.with me i have my wife my little kid and financial security (the kid came aftter i left the witnesses) .
only i havnt found anything to replace the importance of reaching out.as a witness (however misguided that reaching out was).
what in your life has replaced your once sincere belives and given your life the purpose you once had?.
You've answered your own question. Your wife and child. Believe in them, their love, and your love for them. If that's not enough, give back to the community.
my husband, son, and i all love riding four wheelers.
my husband has an ' 05 polaris sportsman, i just bought an '07 polaris hawkeye.
my son has a 110atv & a 90cc dirtbike (he is 9) .
I'm sorry also. If you are going to ride any kind of powered equipment you need to realize that you have a great responsibility for not only yourself, but even more so for all those around you as well as the environment. Burn, I'm sorry for the elephant comment. You, as the walker, should be watchful of your surrounding, but if the dumbass elephant steps on you because he wasn't paying attention, well, I guess that elephant needs his ass beat. No hard feelings on my part. ?

BTS. How can you, in good conscience, refer to people that ride ATV's, dirt bikes, jet ski's, etc. as rude while calling me a dumbass? I stand by what I say. If you as a hiker can not stay out of the way of an off-road rider, you neither need nor deserve, to be on the trail. As for your statement that the trail was unmarked; I'm sure that if the trail had been ridden before, that there would be tracks from tires. These tracks clearly mark the trail. If you walk in elephant tracks, don't be shocked when the elephant steps on you. If the trail hadn't been ridden on, then you are correct, the rider should have carefully ridden the trail several times to make sure that others weren't on it. I'm very sorry if you've had trouble with any immature, trashy, rude people while out hiking, but after reading your replies, have come to the conclusion that you probably deserved it.

Why do you resort to calling me dumbass? I did not lower myself to calling you names, did I?

By the way, if your too slow or too deaf to hear a dirt bike/ATV coming around a blind curve, you probably don't need to be on the trail to begin with.

baby girl, don't worry, not everyone on here is an eco-freak. Although I agree completely that alcohol and ATV's, dirt bike's, etc. are, at times, mixed by the idiots of this world, please don't clump us all together.
