  The great coco nutty monkey adventure...you have to read this it's uncanny

  okay, last night my wife is still on the road trying to get home, and she calls me and asks me to go to the store and buy her nephew a "coco nutty monkey" playdoh toy.

  i have no idea what that is.

  so, i go to toyz 'r us and i find it.. then i go next door to a clothing store to buy my wife a gift.. as i am coming out of the store a couple (black gangbanger types) are coming out of the store at the same time.

  MY LYING MOTHER IN LAW

  this is not a thread to gain sympathy.

  my life has changed dramatically over the weekend.

  my husband (hoboken) has just left me and my two boys.. i'm not going to divulge all the details, but needless to say things are very tough emotionally for all of us.

  Wow...

  I'm glad that you see the friends and caring folks that are in your life - and so sorry that "family" hasn't done a tenth of that.

  All I can add is that this seems so much like the "normal" family relationships I grew up with in "the Truth".

  "Fleshly" brother

  after leaving the congregation, i've begun to notice some weird aspects of "jw-ism" that i wouldn't have batted an eyelid about a few years back.. for example, tonight i heard the phrase "fleshly brother" - meaning someone's literal brother, as opposed to some random bloke who simply happens to belong to the same religion.. and i thought about this, and i thought: "this is wrong.".

  i think two of the biggest problems with the jw religion are that (1) it interferes with a person's ability to think clearly, even distorting the relationship between cause and effect, and (2) it attempts to redefine the meaning of words themselves, appropriating them for its own ends.

  a "vocabulary hijack", if you will.. a word as fundamental as "brother", meaning someone in your family.

  Every subcultural develops its own lingo. Listen to any popular music today, and if you're under 30 you will be challenged.

  But when such gets used within krazy kults, it becomes a tool of brainwashing.

  for myself growing up in the 60's it was mostly the beatles that drew my attention as well as many others.. as for the entire body of work by them, there might never be another four piece musical group like them.. sad to think that the younger generation today only has thug rap/hip hop trash or britney spears to listen to.. the quality of music may have diminished itself when it started to become more of a visual expression of art rather than .

  Well, CTZ led a cult-splinter from Adventists similar to this cult-splinter of Urantia (though Urantia really doesn't have the organization of Adventists of the time), so that's similar.

  The shunning is more to the tune of later JWism rather than CTZ's initial teachings.

  But OTWO is probably right about it being more similar to Scientology in administration.

  I don't think you can attribute desire or caring to The Almighty should He/She/It exist.

  Given the power we attribute to God, it is unreasonable to suppose God is fettered by petty human notions such as proving Himself or needing to balance some (anthropomorphic) idea of perfection lost with some (anthropomorphic) idea of perfect sacrificed.

  Maybe it's time to stop limiting God to accounting formulas or human emotion. If such a thing exists, it would act or get off the pot. That is doesn't is pretty conclusive regarding this God person, as He is envisioned by most.
