Leolaia, Thanks for your response! I tried to get a JW to explain it too me and they couldn't or wouldn't. I guess its hard for JW's to explain this theory when they don't have their watch tower publications handy.

Is the NWT really the most accurate translation of the Bible?
by godsgurl ini have heard jw claim that the nwt is the most accurate translation of the bible and the persons who translated the bible were inspired by the holy spirit.
but if this is so then why was the nwt revised so many times?
did the holy spirit get it wrong the first time?

nvrgnk, I am confused. When you say Jehovah are you talking about God or the JW's. It sounds pretty weird that God is trying to predict when the world is going to end?

What's up with the Governing Body?
by godsgurl inmy dad was raised a jw and though he isn't a jw (because he hasn't passed all of their tests) he insists on "converting" me.
we constantly debate over my beliefs and his beliefs.
the jw have so many strange beliefs in blows my mind.

Thanks everyone! I ask my dad lots of good questions about the JW and most of the time he refuses to answer them or will change the subject and start talking about something else. I was amazed that most JW don't know any of the Governing Body members personally. I mean if they are comparing themselves to a group in the bible then why is there such secret. In the bible we clearly know the apostles and those that were overseers; they fellowshiped with the people. They were not hidden or untouchable. Early Christians were able to see the Holy Spirit at work in them. How can the JW see the Holy Spirit at work in members of the Governing Body? They probably rarely see them or know anything about them but they are suppose to just take their word that they are led by the Holy Spirit.

The JW have so many strange beliefs in blows my mind. What I want to know is what is the purpose of having a Governing Body? There is no mention in the Bible of a Governing Body. The bible mentions pastors, elders, teachers,etc but no mention of a Governing Body.
