Rosenburg Circuit Assembly
by out4good3 indid anyone here attend this weekend's sales convention special assembly at the texas rosenburg assembly hall?
any "new light" or did they just recycle the same old garbage?
-
gilwarrior
Interesting that someone brought up the Rosenburg Assembly Hall. The last time I ever attended anything that was Witness related was at that hall. It was almost 2 years ago. I went to that assembly and left during the middle of it...and I will never, ever go there or any Kingdom Hall again.

Internet banned?
by gilwarrior ini know that this subject has been talked about many times, but i am convinced that if the wts gets more fanatical, they will eventually ban witnesses from going on the internet.
yeah, i know it sounds goofy, but there are so many witnesses who are leaving as a result of what they have found on the net that the wts will have no choice, but to do it.
they will probably find some "new light" and probably sight some bible scripture.

They could also tell Witness kids not to use the net at school just like they are told not to celebrate Christmas and other holidays.
Just my two cents.

My compultion is locks. Whenever I leave my house I have to turn the doorknob two, three, four and even five times to make sure it is locked. I have done it so much that my door knob is getting loose. I also check the locks on my truck after I lock it. I check the locks over and over again even after I have seen that the doors are indeed locked.
So far I haven't reached that freaky zone where I have to check for several mintues and several hours, but sometimes I am afraid that it will get worse.
Anyone else have this?

Well, I started my job as a cab driver last Saturday. So far it has been going OK. My shift is from 3AM to 3PM. It has been hard waking up early in the morning, but I am getting the hang of it.
Now, since this is a thread by me, I have to vent. Today, I went to the cab area early in the morning, like I normally do. I was told that today I would be put on call. Meaning that I would be given a cab only if someone who was scheduled to get a cab didn't show. OK, that was fine with me. So I was waiting there and I started talking to one of the other cabbies. We then got to a conversation where he told me if I knew what my rank was. (Your rank is based how much money you average a day in rides.) I told him that I didn't know. He told me that when a driver is on call he will get a cab based on his rank. The cabbies who are higher ranked get first shot at a cab. So we go inside the office and see, on the bullitin board the ranks of all the new cab drivers. Out of 26 drivers, there was my name at the very bottom, DEAD LAST! In other words, I had the lowest rank!
At that moment, all my negative feelings came back to me. I kept thinking: I shouldn't be in this job, I'm not good enough, I don't belong here, Everyone is better then me, I should start looking for another job, I suck, and so on. I was also afraid of the possibility of being fired! I don't know if I am making a big deal over nothing, but if I lose this job, I will have to go back to Houston. God, that is the last thing I want to do! I want to stay here in Las Vegas!
Anyway, after I while, I was told to go home and come back tomorrow. I didn't mind missing a day. I needed the R and R, but I was still in panic mode. I thought, "What if don't work tomorrow?" "Could this mean that my days are numbered?" Damn it! This is what exactly what I was afraid was going to happen.
I understand that I did have several disadvantages: 1) I just came to Vegas three months ago, so don't know all the short cuts and paths as well as other cab drivers do. 2) It is only my first week on the job. and 3) My social skills are in the toilet and since being a cab driver requires you to deal with people, this is not exactly a plus.
Also when I got home, I took a nap and had a bad dream. A nightmare you could say. Which is strange since I don't have too many of those. I don't remember what the nightmare was about, but I do remember in the dream that I knew I was dreaming, but that I couldn't distinguish reality from my dream. It was really scary! Imagine the movie "Vanilla Sky." The reason I mention this is because I think my dream may have had to do with my job.
Anyway, thanks for reading my story and I'll let you know what happens in regards to my taxi job in the future

We are very fortunate & take it for granted
by Simon inwe've just been watching an absolutely heart wrenching documentary on itv about a little girl with a very rare disease (progeria) which makes her age prematurely at 10 times the normal rate.
she will be like an old woman by the time she is 10.. they have a meet-up where the little kids with the same condition can play and have fun together and seeing their poor little faces looking so happy is a wonder to behold.
i guess it's easy to forget that inside they are still really little kids.

You are right Simon, there is no loving God!
In fact there is no God period!

I Need To Gain Weight??
by Dutchie ini am so bummed!
i went to the doctor yesterday and he said that i was too thin and that i need to gain 5 or 10 pounds.
i don't understand why.
-
gilwarrior
Dutchie, you need to gain weight and I need to lose weight. What I suggest we do is go to the doctor's office, get some tube, stick one end in you and the other in me, and pump some of my excess fat into you. I think we both will be happy.

Tired Movie Formulas
by gilwarrior inhave you ever seen a movie and noticed that you have seen this same formula before?
do you ever see the same formula repeated over and over and over again?
well i have and i will mention some of the formulas that should be dropped and forgotten.

Have you ever seen a movie and noticed that you have seen this same formula before? Do you ever see the same formula repeated over and over and over again? Well I have and I will mention some of the formulas that should be dropped and forgotten. There thay are:
1) The buddy cop movie. It usually starts off with two cops who are paired together that are complete opposites. Usually, one will be black and one will be white. One is single and one is married with kids. One is crazy and one is sane and they both can't stand each other. As the movie progresses they start to like to like or at least respect each other and by the end they are friends.
2) The love story. A guy and a girl get together. They fall in love and everything is great when suddenly *gasp* we find out that she is dieing! *sniff, sniff*
Any other old movie chiches?

Position on College Changed?
by Maximus inseveral have made outright statements and others have suggested that the society's negative position on higher education has changed.
'the society does not discourage higher education where i live.
' worse, 'apostates have made it all up--the society has never discouraged education.
-
gilwarrior
Interesting topic!
While I was growing up higher education was discouraged, ONLY IF it got in the way of being Witness. If you went to college and you still go to the meeting, go out on sevice, and have studies it was fine. I knew of one elder in my congregation who went to college and worked as a chemical engineer.
When I lived in Mexico, one of the elders of my congregation not only went to college, but is now a professor at one of Mexico's most prestigious universities and is still an elder.
