Is it official policy that elders MUST advise the parent to report abuse?

notwithstanding the plain fact that the watchtower's heinous "two witness" rule is obviously flawed (scripturally and in terms of natural justice), it seems to me that as long as the elders are advising the parent/caregiver to go to the authorities in every case where an accusation of child abuse has occurred that this is sufficient for the elders to discharge their legal duty, shouldn't it?.

i have heard rumours that this is in fact the official current policy (since when i don't know) of the society: that they tell the elders to advise the parent/caregiver to inform the authorities of alleged child abuse.

but how firm is this policy?

i was told by the police and cps that jws in general and an elder was not very helpful during the investigation , there are some jws that have refused to give statements which meant that charges could not be persued with concerning my child , i know that the police were not at all impressesed by some jws at all

if not i dont understand why the elders themselves dont think it is wrong, if a brother confesed to the elders that he had murdered someone would they report that to the police ?

legally, the term 'rape' is used for anyone who is 13 years old and under as they are not considered of giving informed consent. I know the elders reported another child molester in the congregation to the police, I just wished they had reported the other one

South Africa needs to know - Pedophilia in the JWs

hi everyone - i ususally post and set up topics in the "friends" section of this forum - i've put this up too.. i know in the usa pedophilia has been exposed in the jw faith - it hasn't even made any kind of stir down here in s.africa - i suppose because no one really knows about it, and it hasn't been brought to the attention of the media.. my reasoning is that this is a world wide faith and such news should be world wide.

i would like to write to our local tv stations to see if they would cover something like this?

does anyone here have experience in doing this kind of thing - i mean i don't even know if i'm allowed too.. help would be appreciated..

if there was a police investigation going on in a congregation for child abuse and at least three elders knew about that , would they inform all the other elders what was going on ?

i tried to discuss the matter with an elder concerning my child that had been abused , and he said to me i dont know what you are talking about and dont want to know !

after the court case had finished i complained about his attitutude to me and how it had upset me and was told by an elder that the other elder really did not know what i was talking about as only 2 or 3 elders deal with such things .

im sure they would have had a meeting when they realsed that the shit was really going to hit the fan when it came out in court that they knew about victim 1 and victim 2 did nothing , then he did it again and i reported him .

lol so it really depends on if people in the cong know about any indescretion ? if they do not nothing gets done , bacically what the eye dont see the cong dont need telling about it !
