In states like California, I don't think marijuana is such a big issue because of the ease of obtaining a medical marijuana prescription. I think a dub would draw the line at edibles and using a vaporizer. I couldn't imagine any of them smoking if only for the aroma it leaves on someone. I've even heard rumors of some glaucoma suffering ghetto dubs growing. Its all very hush hush and when you live in a town that smells of dead roadkill skunks and marijuana which both smell like each other, snitching is a waste of time.

in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.
as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

They have been giving talks too recently for any new light to come out. They could quietly tell the elders what kind of congregational discipline is high and low priority just to keep the numbers up. They could relax disciplining those who still associate with the disfellowshipped and just still preach against it. Or simply put in more checks and balances to make sure it isn't a matter of elders power tripping, so that the corruption and hypocrisy doesn't stink as badly. Or they could make reinstatement a lot easier. Making reinstatement a lot easier they can come across as loving without actually comprimising. It won't help the heretics and independent thinkers. Didn't Christ say that you should forgive your brother Seventy times Seven times? -

I think Christian Nationalism can be either incredibly Libertarian (Rastafarians), incredibly Liberal (Anglican Church), or incredibly Totalitarian (Kony, the Mormon Fundamentalists, Nueva Jerusalén.) Christian Nationalism isn't so bad as long as the different flavors of the Kool-Aid stay watered down. When it isn't watered down enough it might as well be poisoning the message of Christ. The Quietism of the Jehovah's Witnesses and other apolitical cults is more depressing than any because they have given up on making the world a better place.

JW going to prestigious university
by ivanatahan ini've been debating this, and my mother (the spiritual head of my family, she even controls my father spiritually, who is an elder) doesn't seem to be starkly against me going to a prestigious university.
in fact, i've been going over my chances, and i'd say i have a pretty decent chance of going to my dream university, oxford university, to study philosophy, politics, and economics.
naturally i wouldn't tell my mother about me wanting to take the three most hated subjects of jws at a university that would bring me into bad relations with "spiritually sound jws".. do you guys know any ex-jw or knowledgeable jw who knows ttatt that went to a randall group or ivy league school?

My sister goes to Cal Berkeley and she says there is a Jehovah's Witness 'club' on campus. I know its not Ivy League but its the best on the West Coast. Neither of us are dubs by the grace of God. -

Join the (live-in) conservation corps if you have to (if you live in the US). just kind of run away, and you will be transported to beautiful nature but harsh working conditions. At the end of a year you'll have a small educational stipend, and you can say it wasn't the military. A clean fade for a young one who isn't so sure about anything. -

Why else would Gerrit Lösch refuse to appear in court even if it cost the Organization millions of dollars? The dignity of the office of the Governing Body is priceless to the Organization. Once you have a GB member being chewed out in a court of law by a secular judge on World News, the rank and file will start ignoring the GB and all hell will break loose. -
