Watchtowers policy of shunning our own close relatives
by Truthexplorer inhaving looked over the february' 2016 wt study article ' learn from jehovah's loyal servants' and meditating on the 'advice' from the fds aka gb regarding the shunning of our own close relatives if they have been disfellowshipped.
the example in par 7 highlighting how a woman called anne shuns her own mother for 'as she says' cutting herself off from jehovah.
i can't help but wonder how audacious and wreckless watchtower is in writing this stuff.

I tell my mother who shuns me that her actions are absolute confirmation to me that its not even close to being true Christianity and as long as this shunning family policy exists it's proof positive they're just another false religion, like all the rest, to be avoided like the plague. -

Anthony Morris Says The Governing Body Is Not Dogmatic, But Simply Must Be Obeyed If You Want Jehovah's Blessing

Next week from Tony Morris: Acts 5 and how Annanias and Saphira were both struck down dead because they didn't declare all the money they should have to the apostles. So you better give us all your money or else.
(There's no better proof needed that the New Testament is full of fabrication and pious fraud than Acts 5).

The Pain of Coming to a Decision
by daniel-p init's been at least a couple years since i've posted anything on here, and much longer than that since when i was active.
ten years ago i first came here all in turmoil over my disillusionment of my beliefs.
i've been through lots of ups and downs since then.

If your main concern is your children then leaving your wife will likely only make it much harder to prevent their indoctrination. She may take refuge in the organisation for her loneliness and grief at your leaving.
It sounds to me like she is not really serious anymore about the religion anyway if she's not out in FS. She's perhaps mostly only now going for the friendship and community it offers (like any church does.) Seems almost that she is trying to back off the religion as much as she can to accommodate your needs. Cut her some slack on that regard, and don't get so hung up on a 5 year olds comments about Christmas.
It sounds like your wife still loves you very much but the real issue is youre not meeting each other's needs sexually (common with having young children and arguing over them). Make it a focus to discuss this frankly and honestly together. What exactly is the problem killing the passion. Has she put a lot of weight on after the children and you resent it especially since you've lost a lot of weight running etc?
It sounds like you are very numb emotionally, although otherwise quite motivated and energetic. You feel nothing much for your wife, get irritable at your 5 yr old daughter, and theres the comment you tacked on the end of a paragraph out of context that your little son clings to your leg crying wanting you to pick him up (why would you let him cry and not just pick him up...1 year olds need to be picked up and held a lot?). This all says you're emotionally shut down.
Please...NEVER argue with each other and raise voices in front of your little children. Can't emphasise this enough.
It sounds like you may be on the wrong medication tbh. Some anti depressants work by shutting the emotions down. The active ingredient in many does just that, numbing you mentally and you're ability to respond emotionally and empathetically. Strongly recommend you talk to your doctor and counselor about all this...they may feel you need to switch to something else.
Otherwise, trust the instinct that is telling you not to leave your family and little children who love you dearly. Work on your sex life with your wife, and on whatever is making you feel so numb and irritable towards her. If you are holding her in bed then there is still strong love there deep down. Cling to that feeling and work on building it.

What made you turn atheist or agnostic?
by LevelThePlayingField inif you were a jw and are now an atheist or agnostic, what was the tipping point that made you turn to it?.
the reason i ask is i have noticed that many who leave the jw's seem to turn to atheism, versus still having some form of a faith.
have many of you given up on god first or have you had atheistic views first and then found atheism to be true.

Research into 'the problem of evil' and discovering the abject failure of all theodicies to explain how a supposed loving, prayer hearing God that we can have a supposed 'personal relationship' with could possibly allow so much suffering and evil, especially that suffered by babies and children. -

I was a born-in for 35 years and never once heard of this. If anything it must've been an aversion to the hippy John Lennon style only, as mentioned; nothing to do with wire rims per se.
Some apostates are as bad at getting their facts straight and prone to exaggeration as the Watchtower Society is.

Huh? Please elaborate (btw, I meant atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki).

Fukitol
already happened with the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima.
Actually you just prove the point you are trying to refute. God exist, and has chosen the Jews as His people. The hell with everyone else.

The Watchtower is not invincible
by Coded Logic indespite claims to the contrary, there's no guarantee the watchtower will be around in a few decades time.
and it seems to me there's ever mounting evidence that the opposite may well be true.
but it's not just that recruitment is down and their defectors are up.

This is their future:
There has been close to a 40% decline in printed material in the last decade. Hard to say what will happen in the next few years. Maybe a total decline in printed material, but with everything only on tablets or streaming videos at KHs. But only KHs or Assembly Halls at centralized locations. Mega Congregations.

Almost £1/4 million siphoned off?
by The Searcher inaccording to charity commission records - http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/accounts/ends60/0001065860_ac_20120331_e_c.pdf - the chelsea & kensington kingdom hall in the centre of london had in 2012, "funds-on-deposit arrangement to branch" which amounted to 220,000.. i wonder how much they still have "on deposit", and how the fleeced sheep in that congregation are feeling now?

They have to get the money somehow to pay out all the paedophile victims.
ARC alone likely to recommend $10k minimum compensation each for the 1000+ victims who the WBTS never reported to the police. Or an equivalent class action amount.
The WBTS is facing financial ruination in Australia, and this is just the beginning.

What a thing to say..."just ignore it and it will die."
Disgusting and outrageous disregard for the suffering of child victims.
Complete immoral contempt for paedophile victims. Suffer the little children...just let them die!
What is the litmus test for pure worship according to the Bible, per the book of James? How did Jesus treat children and how did he respond to those that wanted to shove them aside as if nothing but pests?
If there is a hell, may David Asshole Splane rot in it.

Nothing new here really that hasn't already been surmised or confirmed on this forum already. It's like a concise summary of most of the more important/topical stuff discussed on this forum recently.
Are you talking from the perspective of being a current bethelite or a CO or what?
How high up are you really, thedepressedsoul?
