Why do most Christians churches have masonic and/or pagan symbols?
by kabwell inhas anyone looked at the local churches in their area and seen pagan and freemason symbols both inside and outside.
i am not a jw but at least they don't seem to follow this trend.
why do "christians" wear a symbol of torture and death ?

SimonSays clearly doesn't know shit from shovel. Appears to have the immature, rambling, incoherent critical thinking skills of a 16 year old. -

Sounds promising and salacious. There's gotta be at least one disfellowshipping and one reproof in that lot. A meeting to actually forward to! -

Nothing really new here. The Societys had occasional articles and meeting parts for the last 50 years asking for money. -

Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof
by freemindfade inwas speaking with someone last night who just recently toured the us bethel's.
the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

A new nadir reached in the sheer obnoxiousness of this lunatic religion.

Something interesting!
by John Aquila ini was invited to a small get-together by a long time friend.
we both served as elders for years.
he is in his late 70s.

I'm also calling BS on this. There is simply no way such a large group of critically minded active JW's could get together like this without some kind of witch hunt and lots of judicial committees resulting. Either John Aquila, a compulsive forum attention seeker, is grossly exaggerating the numbers or not being up front about something. -

The canonised Old Testament is no different from the Apocrypha except with more scary fables and mythology
by fukitol inthe apocryphal books are accepted by catholics in their douay version as inspired of god, but rejected by the rest of christianity?.
why?.
when you examine the reasons for and against acceptance of the apocrypha as divinely inspired or not, it dawns on you that the traditionally accepted 39 books of the hebrew scriptures are nothing but the same sort of stuff as the more recent apocryphal books are, with the only difference being that the 39 much older ot books contain a lot more scary stories, fables and mythology invented by the ancient jewish priesthood to frighten their followers into fear and obedience and continued giving of meat sacrifices for the priests to eat.. ultimately, the ot can be summarised as nothing but a mixture of relatively accurate historical jewish war histories and genealogies, such as the aprocrypha is, mingled with scary stories made up by the ancient jewish priests and scribes..

You really do mix facts with rubbish Doug.
I'm still waiting for the quotes from the apocrypha in the NT that you asserted exist. Please produce them.

Huh? The NT writers never quoted from any apocrypha books.
But you've basically missed the whole point of my opening post Doug.
