And why your condescending and insulting response orphancrow? So touchy and defensive at the mere mention of atheism (I am essentially an atheist btw). I feel no need to defend my mention of that in the rude manner you demand I do. Draw whatever inferences you wish from it.

Not everything in life and the universe is as black and white as it seems. There are mysteries and 'real' experiences being experienced that are, and may always be, inexplicable, and accepting some ambivalence and taking a neutral position on some of these things is one to be respected I believe.

there's simply no way to honestly deny that the ot condones genocide, slavery and misogyny.

there are too many passage showing yahweh commanding his people to wipe out this nation and that nation - women and innocent children included!

it leaves us with a god who wrote a book that very, very, very much seems like it condones genocide, but it doesn't, etc.. what kind of god does that?

Coming to realise and accept that the Bible is full of stuff that is absolutely morally repugnant that no 'God of love' would have anything to do with, and that the Bible is therefore clearly nothing more than the word of men (the same as all other ancient 'holy' writings), was the biggest epiphany and liberating experience of my life.

Yes, how evil the UN is, trying to help unify divided and warring nations, stop war, poverty, disease. Its totally understandable why Jehovah must crush the wicked UN. What a great shout of praise all the angels and lovers of righteousness will give Jehovah for doing that.

And not forgetting that when the Watchtower became a UN affiliated NGO it signed an application form pledging to uphold and support the goals and ideals of the UN Charter, which includes use of military force against aggressor nations.

Contempt of court, case in San Diego county really disgusts me!

this case has to be talked about by ever awake jw every apostate everyone.

this case because they refuse to hand over documents the court already knows they have because they handed them over before but heavily redacted, is the icing on the cake!

this case shows thier evil plain and simple.

It truly is absolutely disgusting. This needs to come to the attention of the mainstream media. Perhaps Barbara Anderson can help with that?

The Watchtower is currently reeling from all the bad publicity and snowballing legal exposes of its criminal pedo coverups, which they remain obstinately and wilfully in denial of, with the organisation perilously close to reporting negative growth for the first time since the 1975 debacle, and this is a great opportunity to deliver a roundhouse kick to their chin at a crucial time.

spiritual crisis

two years ago i had a kundalini experience.

i felt energy or chi pulsate through each of my chakras, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, then back, after that i felt like a newborn for three days.

i felt like i was reborn spiritually and god gave me a new name - indi.

Sounds like she is a Reiki practitioner or similar.

Kinda funny to see people try to explain such phenomenon away as a placebo effect, power of suggestion, a psychological disorder, etc. Better to just accept that there are some forces and mysteries that we can't explain or comfortably fit into a purely materialist paradigm. Doesn't mean you're compromising on atheism.

The word 'spiritual' has so many negative connotations and provocative meanings associated with 'religion', that whoever coined the term SI simply wasn't very intelligent, or it was coined by a secret Christian with a hidden agenda towards conversion.

I think 'moral and ethical intelligence' is much better..

Yes indeed.

But JWs will respond that Jesus' words were purely symbolic, which of course they are, so his command to eat his blood is irrelevant to the blood transfusion debate.

But then they forget that blood is purely a symbol for the life or soul that is lost. Does a blood transfusion involve loss of life or soul? No, none whatsoever. So a blood transfusion has no symbolic value in God's eyes whatsoever. It's no different to any other organ transplant.

You don't need religion to achieve any of those objectives, ignoring the absurd bits about some 'kingdom' and being required to 'love' an invisible, aloof and totally unprovable cosmic sky parent that says he loves you so much and will answer your prayers but cannot lift a finger to prevent evil and suffering cuz that's messing with your free will. Go figure.

If you have to go to church to learn to be nice to people and help the needy then there's something wrong with you.
