Thank you for your comments. It looks like this thread might have prompted a real game of chess. That's kind of cool.I remember playing chess when I was in the organization. Some witnesses were okay with it, but others liked to criticize it. They would sometimes point to an old article that was decades old to justify their views. -

Thank you for your comments. I do plan on including some original artwork in the book.I tried to write a good story that can be enjoyed by people who aren't familiar with Jehovah's Witnesses or Sparlock the Warrior Wizard. I also had to be careful to avoid infringing upon the copyright of the Watchtower Society. Therefore, many of the references to the Warrior Wizard are in the form of easter eggs. I tried not to change the story of Sparlock. Instead, I produced an elaborate backstory for the Summer of Sparlock that will provide a new context from which to view the Sparlock phenomenon. -

I have finished writing the novel. It is now being edited. If everything goes according to plan, it should be released sometime this Summer.
The book's title is Sparlock of the Multiverse, Book One: The Great Apocalypse. It will be around 360 pages long (assuming 250 words to a page).
Here is a description:
Thomas Adams is a talented editor for a major New York book publisher. He lived quietly until a beautiful forensic psychologist came into his life. When she disappears under mysterious circumstances, he becomes obsessed with unraveling a "story" that unites the Bible, a lost masterpiece by Hieronymus Bosch, apocryphal literature, fairy tales, forgotten Gnostic heresies, end time predictions of nineteenth century apocalyptic sects, and even a religious propaganda film for children.
Thomas' investigation takes a sinister turn when elements of the "story" begin to play out in real life. He uncovers clues that indicate a Great Apocalypse is imminent. A countdown has begun, and Thomas must confront a greater threat than he ever imagined.
The first book of the Sparlock Trilogy is an intriguing exploration of our history and myths, our shared dreams and nightmares. It examines the hidden meaning behind the stories we tell our children and the lies we sometimes tell ourselves.
I'll have more news during the coming months. I welcome your thoughts.

O'hare's actions might have been inappropriate or even illegal, but I have doubts about the wisdom of charging him with harassment.
Laws on harassment are good for protecting people from stalkers. They can be especially useful for victims of domestic violence. Unfortunately, they can also be misapplied to by the police to prevent lawful demonstrations.
I think the crucial factor here may be the the JW was handing out literature in public. I view that as a public demonstration that is advocating for the views that are present in the literature.
Many would find those views to be offensive, especially since they are critical of other religions and lifestyles. Still, that kind of demonstration should be allowed by the Government. However, I think it's going too far for the Government to try to shield one public demonstration from other public demonstrations that express a different view. If one person or group advocates an opinion publicly, then those with alternate views should be allowed the same freedom, provided all groups do so in a lawful manner. The Government certainly shouldn't use harassment laws to pick and choose which demonstrations it wants to allow.
I think it would be fair for the local Government to have laws limiting the use of sound systems in public. If O'hare broke that kind of law, then he should be prosecuted for that, rather than harassment.
If O'hare followed the JW around while he was engaged in private activities, then I think a good case could be made for harassment.
Misapplying harassment laws could also cause JWs all sorts of grief. I probably won't feel sorry for them if that happens, but I would be sad to see the erosion of basic human rights.

Congratulations. I'm looking forward to the Kindle edition.
I'm working on my own science fiction novel that deals with XJW themes, so it will be interesting to see how you handle these issues.

Finally some good news for us nonbeleivers! :)
by suavojr inpope francis assures atheists: you dont have to believe in god to go to heaven.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/pope-francis-assures-atheists-you-dont-have-to-believe-in-god-to-go-to-heaven-8810062.html.
in comments likely to enhance his progressive reputation, pope francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of la repubblica newspaper, eugenio scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by god if they followed their consciences.. responding to a list of questions published in the paper by mr scalfari, who is not a roman catholic, francis wrote: you ask me if the god of the christians forgives those who dont believe and who dont seek the faith.

This might be just a clever ploy to get believers to stop trying to convert atheists. The pope probably knows that is more likely to likely to result in the believer becoming an atheist than the other way around.

Does anybody know if there are any plans of releasing A Separate Identity on Kindle?
