Feb. 1 mass calling campaign. Will you call?
by Shawn10538 ini'm not sure if it was mentiopned.
but i think that we are talking about not just one call from each person, but we are talking about spending a good length of time calling repeatedly.
othrwise it just won't have much of an impact.

I am not following what you are talking about. Is there a previous thread? Or can you explain a bit more?
This thread discusses it http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/151084/1.ashx
The idea first came up in this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/150868/1.ashx
There is a small group of us determined to do this although the response hasn't been as big yet as you might expect.

Jesus was a false prophet....
by dawg ini posted this on another thread, but if you read matthew 24, we see that jesus was indeed a false prophet... he doesn't give the day or hour of the end times but he says that this generation will not pass away until all these things occur... and what generation was he talking about?
he was talking to his diciples and telling them you will see this and that and thus and such....especially take a gander at matt 24: 33-36...jesus thought he was living in the last days and that he would come down from a cloud from the heavens...that stars would fall from the sky, and the like... just read it and tell me what you think.
i wonder if jesus was an essene, they thought they were living in the end of time, in fact they predicted a messiah would come during their days... .

I think this is the real reason the WTS has been so confused about the word generation. They can't see the simple explanation that it referred to the generation that Jesus spoke to and is now an irrelevant prophecy.

Are we suffering from a victim mindset?
by DT ini don't want to be disrespectful or cause needless disputes, but there are some thoughts that have been bugging me.
i have to wonder why former members aren't doing more to combat the power of the watchtower society.
of course, i realise that some have made great contributions and others have to first make their own healing process a priority.

I don't want to be disrespectful or cause needless disputes, but there are some thoughts that have been bugging me. I have to wonder why former members aren't doing more to combat the power of the Watchtower Society. Of course, I realise that some have made great contributions and others have to first make their own healing process a priority. However, the situation is still kind of absurd. Here is an organisation that is causing the deaths of thousands of people and untold misery. They are also holding many of our friends and family hostage. Their shunning policy and slander of former members is about as brutal as they can get without resorting to physical violence. It's as if they have declared war on us and we haven't realised it yet.
Could it be that we don't recognise our potential power? Do we think that our actions against the mighty Watchtower Society will only backfire? Recently, I was thinking about how hard it is to do things to weaken the Watchtower Society. Then I remembered that it was the Witnesses that taught me that any actions against their religion usually fail. I think the reality is different. It's wise to avoid giving the impression that "apostates" are crazy, but I don't think we have to walk on eggshells either. There will always be some witnesses that won't respond to any kind of reasoning, but I'm sure most still have some level of sincerity and want to do the right thing. All we have to do is start to break through their mind control. Also, if we can make the public more aware of this dangerous cult, then the witnesses will have trouble finding new recruits to replace the steady losses of people leaving.
There are a lot of things we can do, some of them are pretty simple and easy. However, it might be worthwhile to first consider our mindset. Have we inherited a feeling of helplessness from the Watchtower Society? Does anybody think it can be therapeutic and liberating to do something meaningful to combat their power? I think the average apostate can easily counteract the efforts of ten or more witnesses. They are using outdated and inefficient methods while we can be far more creative. Also, it should be far easier to convince someone of the dangers of that cult than it is to convert them into that religion. I look forward to your thoughts.

Who will picket the Kingdom Hall with me?
by Maddie ini'm sorely tempted to picket the 2008 memorial.
i will go in disguise and carry a placard with the words :-.
"the governing body of jehovah's witnesses are false prophets.

Did anyone see the video the guy from sixscreensofthewatchtower.com did last year at the memorial, it was really funny the way the people acted coming in to the hall!

PROJECT JERICHO--What are the advantages of a mass exodus?
by uninformed ini have seen lots of encouragement for us to 'unite' and accomplish something that would set back the wt society, but in such a diverse group as we are, it seems that even though we are together, we are alone.. has anyone thought of the possibility of 'semi' organizing a date certain for a bunch to abandon the organization?
kind of like the exodus, or someting along those line.
maybe a loosely organized letter writing campaign.
-
DT
For encouragement purposes I think that each of us should post here to confirm their actions.
I'm still planning on doing this every month and there have been a few that volunteered at this thread. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/151084/1.ashx
Also, why don't we just make it official that the Memorial should be the International day of protesting the Watchtower society.
Makes sense to me. I may make some phone calls earlier in the day (Headquarters and local kingdom halls) and might wave a sign later. If there is anyone in the Saint Paul, Minneapolis area that would like to help organise a protest, please PM me.

I propose a telephone campaign.
by DT inthis discussion started on this thread.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/150868/1.ashx.
it's hard to organise activity among ex-witnesses or any group that is primarily defined by what it isn't.

What are your Guilty Pleasures of a geeky/nerdy variety?
by Crumpet ini don't mean the ones we know about already - things people wouldn't think you did or enjoyed to look at you.. i love watching ray mears extreme survival and learning about how to survive and find food and shelter in extreme climates even though there is a strong possibility that i shall never try and escape naked from a japanese prisoner of war camp, or crash without a flagon of water into the sahara, or come stuck in my ship in a freezing ice plateau in deepest antartica.
.
what's your guilty geeky pleasure?.

Crumpet,
Claiming my 100 geek points saywhat! DT - what are sackbuts?!!!
They are kind of an ancestor to the modern trombone. I actually wrote an article about them http://lutesandviols.blogspot.com/2006/12/sackbut-noble-instrument-with-funny.html which includes information on how they got their name. And to remove all doubt about my nerdiness I wrote another article on other instruments with funny names. http://lutesandviols.blogspot.com/2006/11/instruments-with-funny-names.html
Pubsinger,
I've been to see these perform their Christmas repertoire the last 3 years!
They look like a cool group. I'm a little envious of the prevalence of early music groups in England. I wish there were more opportunities to see early music performed in the United States, although we're making some progress. I even heard that our lute society is bigger than yours.

Jehovah's Witnesses: Tactical Unit

I just thought I would make the new link clickable http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9083013652543867934
The video kind of reminds me of a cross between Jehovah's Witnesses and Scientologists.

I like eccentric music, especially experimental music in nontraditional tunings. I also like very early preclassical music on instruments like lutes, viols, sackbuts (I love that word), etc. I enjoy watching silent and foreign movies.
