Thanks. I'll return the favor. I enjoyed reading your post about the email you sent to your congregation when you left.

Bump.
even though the bible does not condemn hunting watch them push their personal opinion and trun it into watchtower law.. watchtower dec 1 2007 p.31 "how should christians view hunting?
} "the bible does not condemn hunting or fishing.." {great leave it there..no need to push personal thoughts on brothers, right?
} ".....the apostles who were fisherman were likely gratified by a good catch.
Yet, there is no indication that they bragged about their prowess at fishing or hunting or that they went fishing or hunting to compete with others, to prove their manhood, or to have the thrill of the chase, the fight, or the kill.
You have to wonder if they even read the Bible. What about John 21:1-12? That's one of the best known and most exciting fishing stories (tall tales?) in history. But I'm sure the apostles only felt a quiet, noncompetative satisfaction about the catch and only repeated the story to praise Jesus' miraculous abilities.

It's mostly a place for random cult related thoughts and links to breaking news. So far most of my traffic has come from Scientology related Google searches. I hope they will also learn a little bit about Jehovah's Witnesses while they are there.
If you haven't already done so, I hope you will visit my more popular video blog about Jehovah's Witnesses. http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/
I have a few other blogs in development, but I'll save their official announcements until I have more material.
I appreciate comments and links. One of my priorities is to promote other XJW sites by linking to them, but this doesn't do much good unless people are also linking to me. Links provide some direct traffic, but more importantly, they improve your search results and result in better competition for the official Watchtower sites.. (Please PM me if you want to do a link exchange. I also have some nonJW blogs.)
it's just so apperant that these people are so out of touch with reality that the whole world could just not give a crap.. the level of stupidity never ceases to amaze me.
these people just love to feel this incredible persecution, a feeling like they've been so 'hard done by', yet they are completely false.
nearly every religion has had persecution of some sort - jw's, despite they're bizarre and psychotic behavior are completely harmless.
We should never give up fighting the WT even though you are correct in what you say about JW's.
I agree. They exploit the weaknesses of their members for their own gain. This is a great evil. The Internet is making this easier to fight even though people in general aren't changing very quickly.

They know that their members are still going to hunt and fish, but this is a good way to make them feel guilty about it. It's easier to control someone who is feeling guilty.
over 9,000 protesters, media coverage worldwide, scientology embarrassed all over the internet.
.
can the ex-jw community pull this off?
Ocelot,
It would be far more effective to help with the scientology protests. If one of these american cults that run like a business goes down it may make some very ugly precedents for the rest.
I agree. We really need precedents that we can use against the Watchtower Society. These precedents might not come from attacking them directly. For now, Scientology is much more visible target.
The only real weakness that can be exploited is their tax free status. I don't know if protests can do much about this.
The current protests may not have much of an effect, other than raise public awareness. However, there are plans being made that could make a difference. They are thinking about making this a bigger issue in future protests. There is also talk about protesting the state capital buildings over this issue. Some are planning on making copies of letters of petition, putting them in addressed envelopes and handing them out at the protests. All the person has to do is sign and apply postage. There is also an online petition here. http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/stopscientology
I think public awareness is crucial with this. It would probably be a long hard battle to get the tax exempt status of the Watchtower Society revoked, but just having an investigation into their finances would be a big blow. There are already efforts to investigate the finances of of other religious groups and lawsuits could prompt investigation so that punitive damages can be calculated. So maybe this is a real possibility for the foreseeable future.
with all the media attention that scientology has been getting recently, i thought it would be helpful to discuss their similarities with jehovah's witnesses.
i know there are also profound differences, but it's surprising to think about what they have in common (shunning, deaths do to strange medical beliefs etc.).
i would appreciate your help because i don't know a lot about scientology.

The public has recently shown it's willingness to become outraged over some things that are also common among Jehovah's Witnesses. If we are alert to opportunities, we may be able to exploit this. A good video would be nice. (I don't have the capability to make videos, but I have a different idea that I may work on.)

The apostles were always arguing over who was the greatest among them. Isn't it reasonable that they would have been a little competitive about fishing? They're using the lack of a specific recorded incident to come to a conclusion that is ridiculous.
Some who hunt or fish for food may feel justified in putting aside spiritual matters during hunting and fishing seasons. However, we show faith and trust in God when we do not let anything take priority of his interests.
This would be fine if there was a God who takes care of the witnesses and rewards their sacrifices. Unfortunately, it places a heavy burden on some who are already struggling to feed their families. I knew one person who would hunt the first day of dear season and miss the meeting. He usually got something right away. The others would go to the meeting and by the time they got out hunting the deer were so skittish from all the hunters in the woods that they wouldn't see anything. They could easily waste a week hunting and come up empty handed. That's a heavy price to pay for a mind control session.
