Thank you one and all. I had to leave the thread for work today, and I just want to thank you all for the postive posts. The main thing I want to do is to increase my longevity. With another year of my life being marked tomorrow it only makes me realise that life is indeed and actuality getting shorter.

As I said, I have never had any real health issues and to quit smoking is the smart move. I have tried a few times and like one poster said there will be a final succesful attempt.

chickpea....The points you make are very resounding to me. Each and every one of them has come to my mind. The very thought of the warm smoke swirling in my lungs is one in point. Ihave observed each of these on many occasions and it has only served to re-inforce my desire to QUIT!!

I suppose I could keep a running daily post on my progress, but then again, who woud care? Ya think. Ya, some body cares, my friends here on JWD and those around me that love me abd are concerned about my health and well being.

Oh HEY BFD!! Yup, tomorrow is our day. Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TOO!!!

I have tried on a couple of occasions and then some stressor comes into my life and POOF! There goes that attempt. I only seem to get more addicted to it as each stressor hits. I enjoy smoking, mind you, but there are so many things that make it a nasty habit.

My wife tells me that I reek, which is true. It doesn't look good in the professional aspect of my work and it's costly. I am in great health, and I have never had any basic health issues. So, I'll give it another whirl. Thank you all for your support.

I had picked up smoking back 7 years ago when my divorced started and now the time has come for me to give it up. So, I have picked a target date, a goal mind you. Tomorrow , April the 4th is my birthday. I will begin taking the prescription drug Chantix. When you first start taking it you still have the urge to smoke, but only for a week or less. Then , you continue taking it for some extended period and it works.

So, wish me luck friends. After all, I do have to give myself something for my birthday, and what a better gift than better health.

What do you think of todays youth?

as many of you know, i live in a college town and therefore i'm around people much younger than me almost all day.

here's one thing i've noticed, the youth today have left the god of the bible behind.

they have been brought up in a world where information is available at a very rapid rate and have already figured out the biblical god is a fairy tale.

Hey! Cmon now! The youth of today, ya gotta just love them!! After all, didn't WE raise some of them? We , that is my generation, 50's, raised our kids to have EVERYTHING THAT WE NEVER got! And now, our kids are raising their kids to have even BIGGER and more expensive things than they had. So, add in a little new high technology and lack of love on the parents part and PRESTO!!You have a new generation GAP!

Just my 2 cents worth from what have seen. In the job market today, kids just want a check. A job, sure, they don't want to work , but HEY!! GIVE ME MY CHECK!!

JW's have done anything and everything that anyone else in the WORLD has done, and sometimes to the extreme. They are no differant than anyone else, they just like to think that they are.

I have known a jw that has done each and every one of the aforementioned.
