i have been "lurking" here for a few months as i have slowly faded over the past year.

out from the shadows and into the light!

i have just recieved a call from emma, she has been in-undated with emails and has pointed out that as she simply a presenter for bbc radio somerset, a local station, please only email her only if you live in south west england.. her editor has seen the magnitude of the response and realises that this could a big story and looking at escalating to a national level, so the point has been made.. also she wanted to point out that she is only the presenter and the interview and research was undertaken by tammy macallister and she deserves the credit.. it's great to see the exjw community spring into action, but please respect emma's in box!.
well, that served up as a side dish of "big @ss grin"
with this morning's most delicious coffee! well done!
sorry, i accidentally posted a partial title, then hit the submit button, my bad.. as jehovah's witnesses we all were told that this world we live in is temporary .
that we lived in a " temporary system of things " which was soon to be replaced - allegedly - by a " new system of things " in which nobody would ever die, be sick, or be cruel, or sin anymore.
or some churches teach that when you die - you'll float off to " heaven " to be with god- allegedly.. speaking from personal experience of 44 years as a jehovah's witness- i found that by constantly focusing on the future " paradise " it drained me of many joys i could experience in the here and now- the present.
as far as i know, "this" is "it"....
no one can prove otherwise, and
there is nothing convincing about
an afterlife or reward destination....
get busy living, this is probably the whole enchilada....
extra onions, por favor
i know many of you have sent emails to emma britton, who hosted the show this morning with our own cantleave and angus.
(btw, you guys did amazing!).
i sent my email to her as well and wanted to see if anyone else wants to share their emails.
Hello Emma
Reaching from across the pond, here in northern XXXXXX, I have listened to the interview with Nathan Phillips and others, regarding the well established practice amongst Jehovah's Witnesses of shunning former members, including those "disfellowshipped" for disciplinary purposes (to keep the congregation from defilement, in JW-speak) and those who leave over philosophical divergences. JWs allow their members NO DIGNIFIED EXIT. They shoot their wounded, in a manner of speaking, much in keeping with the practices of high control cults.
I am an ex-JW who left their organization to stand by the side of my adolescent child who was diagnosed with gender dysphoria at 15 and is transitioning as a female to male transgender. Imagine the pariah we have become amongst those who think it an honor to be "separate from the world."
Witnesses DO shun family members and DO horribly disrupt family ties and it is a practice heavily encouraged by the hierarchy at the local levels, due to heavy-handed prodding from higher echelons.
After having been isolated from the "world" and its doomed inhabitants, which includes you, ma'am, a JW has only the congregation members and other JWs as a community. Imagine knowing someone 20 years, who, on the actions of a committee of company men declaring you excommunicated, refuses to meet your eyes on a chance encounter at the market, let alone call you nearly everyday as had been the custom between you.
This is the reality: family and long time friends will abandon a DF'd or former member the moment an announcement is made during a public meeting that "So and So is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". They will shake your hand before the meeting saying "sorry it has come to this" and then see right through you at the end of the meeting, as though you no longer exist.
The organization will use what they call "theocratic warfare" to spread disingenuous disinformation to the "world", in a totally locked mentality of "Us vs Them" and instruct their benighted adherents to do the same on pain of...... you guessed it, disfellowshipping and shunning.
Thank you for providing a public discourse on the tactics of the Watchtower Society, which preys on the vulnerable. One reason for making repeated calls, covering "territory" over and again, is to take advantage of changing circumstance for "householders." They look for the low hanging fruit, people in distress or hardship, and offer a paradise earth, reunion with resurrected loved ones, that can be theirs for eternity if only they disengage themselves from "the world" and adopt a cult personality. They caught me in that snare when I was mourning the deaths of a brother and son in a 12 month period. Low hanging fruit indeed.
Regards,
why do people suspend disbelief and accept fairy tales as told in the bible, yet accept that other, non-biblical fairy tales are just that, fanciful tales made up to entertain and/or teach a lesson?.
take jonah and the whale (big fish - whatever).
fairy tale.
reminds me of the old joke
the difference between a fairy tale and a war story?
one starts "once upon a time" and the other starts "this is no bullsh!t"
if there'll be regrets, let them be for that ventured, not that unattempted...
i can't believe it.
probably haven't been out long enough to know they lie like this.
now i just heard it with my own ears.
my email is sent as well
what makes you happy, proud, interesting, whatever you want to post, just share something good please!

i know of someone that has made no bones about being somewhat unhappily married.
they got married because they "fooled around" and felt it was the "right thing to do".. i wonder how many people are unhappily married?
?.
married a man i met in college when we were both using controlled substances..
i went sober and he didnt... off and on he sobers up, sorta kinda, well never mind about it today
so i have spent 21 years of a 28 yr marriage disappointed ....still, i love him as the father of our
kids and remain married to him for purely financially prudent reasons.... he lives in another state
where he found work.... that makes for relief more than happiness
that being said, i am still amazingly content and mostly happy about how life is unfolding...
me and my hubby went to town today to do a little shopping.
