Jaguarbass!! EXACTEMENTE!!!!!
What the hell - God created all things - he knows all - I mean, take a look at how large the universe is, come on, people, we are all wired in - surely he knows that Rutherford was totally together! LOL
january 15 2008 watchtower .
page 24 the governing body makes the following statement.
"when christ "inspected the faithful and discreet slave in 1918, he found those annointed ones on earth (joseph rutherford and his associates) to be faithful in providing spiritual food at the proper time.

is it a good thing to look for fault in everything the borg does?
.
are we clutching at straws sometimes in our efforts to strengthen our fight and fuel our anger?.
I think that the key to being a JW is not a lack of cynicism (they are plenty cynical about other religions and governments) but a lack of skepticism.
The key problem with JW's is that they are often too gullible because they do not know enough to ask good questions.
This forum gives a pretty healthy dose of skepticism to its visitors (both lurkers and posters). That can only be positive. Only through full-throttled inquiry can we even hope to find any "truth".
Are ex-JW's too cynical? No. The reaction is pretty typical when you feel victimized and abused. The key is to stop being a victim and start being a survivor.
When you can coolly and rationally deconstruct the JW mythologies, then you are a survivor.
Excellent post, Notyetx. And welcome to the forum. My feelings are this - if you are defending the borg and if you feel this forum is too cynical, you are still brainwashed. I am not being mean, truly - it is just that I have been out a really long time and I DO SEE IT FOR WHAT IT IS - it is an evil cult ruining/stifling lives, as I have said time and time again. If you see it any other way, if you think people are too hard on it, if you see good things in it and if you think we are cynical, you are still in their grasp...... of course, that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.
i don't know if there is a god.
if i knew for certain, this piece of knowledge could serve as a foundation for my world view.
some people are confident they know the answer (both theists and atheists) and their world view is based on this faith.
The first post states that it is an important question - whether there is a God or not. I question that statement. I don't think it is important AT ALL....
What makes the difference? Man has spent way too much time worrying about the future and the existance of God and not living today and using God as an excuse.
Just listen to a little Pink Floyd and forget it all -
Whether there is a God or not, does not affect me in any way..... why does it affect you? (or is that "effect"? I get those 2 mixed up - sorry)
it was announced at the meeting last night that next week all should be in attendance at the service meeting as a special important letter will be read.
this is in addition to the letter about the district convention.
any idea what it's about?
LOL - BizzyBee - Armegeddon Light!!! HEHEHEHE!!!!!
does anyone have any interesting and helpful details regarding what this deprogramming involves?
we always here one should deprogram but what exactly does it involve what could be some useful tips to facilitate this process?
i was reading recently in the psychological studies of jung about the concept of the shadow the part of our mind that contains all the repressed and rejected material, some of it was rightly repressed (eg the desire to steal from, or otherwise harm innocent people) and some not.
I know that this is a serious topic but I will honestly tell you what helped my cousin get out with me - marijuana. It kinda opened our eyes. But, first you have to sneak it into their tea! LOL
oh, how many of us heard that we wouldn't make it to graduation or get married in this system?
i thought i wouldn't grow up.
no one talked about preparing for the future.
<sigh>
Having been born in - 3rd generation and graduating from high school in 1975, I can't really tell you what it was like then, you wouldn't believe me. Nor, do I need to tell those that have lived it how truly weird it was as you understand.
Seriously, this is an evil cult, stifling/ruining the lives of millions of people. Why do people so blindly follow? Are they missing something in their lives? Are they so afraid of dying that they can't see all the lies, twists, changes of the borg?
I don't think I will ever understand it.
I am sure it includes that book. The collection is in Colorado stored in my mom's basement. He had bought a number of the books off of ebay trying to complete the entire library and was only missing a few of the VERY early books.
Well, I am going to hold tight for a while, at least until I am back in the States for at least a month at a time until I make a decision. Thanks for the input!
does anyone know when this church was founded and who founded it?
this is a spin-off church from the jws.
i had almost forgot all about this group.
My mistake, sorry - it is FRIENDS of the Nazarene.
It is a spin-off group from the JWs and I can't seem to find any info on their origins.

My mom had a friend that was a CON member, when I was a small child - it was always hush-hush.......... which made me curious but she wouldn't talk about it.
Now that this name came up when I was researching something else, I thought someone here would know about them and how they differ from the Witnesses and their origin.
it was pretty messed up.
i appealed and two of the three elders on my appeal commity were from our sister congregation.
when i turned in my appeal letter, the elder i turned it in to tried to talk me out of appealing.
Oh Jake...... Hugs from me to you.
I know it is hard to see at the moment, but you will be ok. The shunning of the Witnesses is so cruel and hateful. It is so unlike anything Christ taught.
I wish the best for you. I wish I were closer to you. Please read the forums and learn all you can about the cult before you make any decisions whether you will go back or not. Check everything out closely. Examine your faith, and it will either make you stronger in it or you will walk away and find a new life.
I walked away with nothing, too. But, I made friends fast, at school and work. It was hard at first, to get comfortable making "worldly" friends, but I fast found out that there are some great people out there, if you just are open to it.
