i've always respected all you guys, but today i am really really proud of the entire ex-jw community. this validates so much of the work everyone has put in fighting watchtower. it almost feels like that first burst in a dam. this is just incredible.

Probably JWs. Possibly child molesters. Perhaps both. I would certainly keep 'Journal Journal' away from my children.
Billy brings up a great point, some of the JW's that post defending the watchtower are in fact pedofiles. if you go to topix, and read some of the long threads about child abuse, there is no question some of the JW's on that board are pedofiles, or at the very least sympathize with them.

i used to get pissed reading those idiots, but now i feel pity for them. and if any of you have an account at JWtalk, check out their news section, they are talking about it. JW's are a pathetic bunch.
im now also reading the msnbc comments, and one thing is clear, the jw's either do not read the article, cant read, or deliberatly lie about what they read. they make statements that are just flat out incorrect. its hilarious.

wow, the attorney called the victim a "rank and file" member in that article. i never heard a higher up refer to them as that, i thought that was just a sarcastic way we referred to ourselves. wow.
and mega wow to this part:
“The verdict is significant because the policy of hiding sex abusers within the congregation was out in this case,” he said.
Simons also said the judgment was “one of the largest in the country for a child sex abuse single victim in a religious institution molestation case.”

if the other settlement made the nightly news with brian williams, i dont see how this doesnt, as its much bigger, especially with sandusky, and the catholic church involved in sex abuse scandals. i would think this is a lock.

by AndersonsInfo inthe plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

yeah, i had no idea this thread would blow up like this cause i didnt even think it was recent. it would be great if one of the pillars like Barbara makes a new thread once the punitive damages come out with all the key info. just a thought.
