its crazy when people on the left do things so outageous that it makes me agree with the right on an issue. i am liberal and i think the people on the hard right are loons, however, the people on the hard left are just as crazy, and this is a great example. if your necklace said "got hats f's" or some anti gay thing, I would understand, but just a cross? that is religious bigotry. and i am not christian. thats like telling a Jew to take off his Yamaka so as to not offend anyone.

Yet another Septuagint manuscript using the divine name found
by slimboyfat inlarry hurtado mentioned on his blog that yet another early manuscript of the septuagint has been found that uses the divine name instead of lord (kurios), this time representing the divine name with ancient hebrew letters (yhwh) in what is the earliest extant copy of the psalms in greek.
hurtado argues that the use of the definite article before the divine name indicates that the manuscript relies on earlier copies that used lord (kurios), but the fact remains that all the earliest copies of the septuagint that have survived use some form of the divine name and none use lord (kurios) as a substitute.

I think there is a fair chance the JWs are right that the substitution of YHWH/IAO with kurios was a Christian innovation dating to the second century CE.
are you for real or am i misunderstanding? Your position is that some Sept. contain the Divine name, or are you suggesting that the grand JW conspriacy theory that somehow all of the original NT manuscripts had the Divine name removed and replaced with kurious? or is it somewhere in between?
this is something I have researched heavily, as have others (who would do a way better job than me), so when I see a JW make the claim, I just dismiss it as JW's being JW's, but when I see a person like you make it, it makes me pause because you are a respected poster.
So maybe your argument is somewhere in the middle? Or are you going full force conspiracy, which when you break it all down would in fact require time travel for "Christendom" to pull this off. Of course, I guess when you have Satan at your disposal, anything is possible!

Feeling numb and alone

since a year i do not go to meetings and i unofficially stopped with the "truth".
i had a meeting with some elders expressing my concerns with the teachings and with the slave.

i cant add anything better than what has already been written. i will say this, if at all possible, deal with your numbness, because speaking from experience, there comes a point where you cant get it back. its like a switch and after a while it can break. mine broke and i keep trying to flip it back on, but im just number to everything. now the benefit is i am able to thrive when things are bad, and dont suffer depression and am generally content, but its like a numb content. its almost like im not comfertable unless things are bad, when things are good i get edgy. most of this is JW induced stuff.
just my 2 cents, hopefully im wrong and you can get it back, but im at a place in my life where im realy doing good with alot of stuff and i want the switch to turn back on, but its just not happening. its probably like a cult PTSD or something. good luck!

Breastfeeding in Bathrooms...
by cognac inthe natick, ma assemble hall used to have it's own room for breastfeeding mothers.
they changed this room to the accounting room or something like that and now have seats available for breastfeeding inside the bathroom.. there is one other small room available for breastfeeding but they close that off when the baptism is going on.
needless to say, i used to get so pissed off that they actually wanted me to breastfeed in the bathroom that i would threaten to a brother that i would take my boob out in front of everybody and that is there problem because breastfeeding in a bathroom is unsanitary.. one year they put me in some backroom.

its not just stuff like this, its the fact that the attenadants are taught to be nazi's. i remember when they banned people sitting on blankets at the conventions. and this one time my dad who is diabetic and older just walked up the million ramps with a heavy as hell cooler at vet stadium and was really winded and was also faint from not eating. so he proceeds to sit on his cooler to rest and recoupe. and as if he was urinating over the railing, an attandant darts over and (while my dads head is down) tells him he cannot sit here. my dad explains what just happened, and that he will only be a few minutes. the addandant tells him that he cant sit there and he must go to the nurising station (which is more walking up ramps). my dad explains that he doesnt need that and simply needs a few minutes to rest and eat something. the nazi continues to insist and is flat out harassing him, it was so outrageous that i stepped in and told him to leave him alone and get away from us. its funny, they are such punks because they always back down.
i also remember being yelled at like i was murdering someone because i was like 6 inches outside of the crosswalk on a side street with zero cars coming. the attandant then kept yelling at me when i got back into the lines and told me to turn around and walk through it again. I am not kidding, it was totally insane. this was after 3 days of having nazi attandants barking at everyone to hold the railing while walking up the steps.
this was 2006, so i cant imagine how bad it is now. its so sick what this religion has turned into.

not with breast feeding, but within the past few years some JW's with kids have told us that at the assemblies they have no longer allowed mothers to walk around the corrider (again this is assemblies not conventions) with their children. so she tells me she's out with her toddler who was fussy in the corrider, a brother comes up and tells her that she cant be out here with her, and to go into the bathroom. she is confused and complies and when she goes in, its like packed like sardines with other moms with children, it was insane. so she then proceeds to leave the bathroom and goes outside with her kid, and the brothers come up to her and tell her she cant be out here with the child and to go into the bathroom. she then proceeds to get her husband and they leave. this was one of the many reasons they no longer go.
they are just an insane cult at this point.

one thing i never understood was why they allow married couples to have sex that isnt specifically for reproduction? I always found it odd that the cathlolic church was more prudish in this regard than JW's. I mean yeah, there are a ton of things in the watchtower that makes the sex you have boring, if you follow it. But its not like the church. I would expect this to change soon as it seems that GB is getting more and more crazy and extreme.
