i think that door to door is the most effective way to get into someones house and indoctrinate them. i dont look at it like they say it is a preaching work. its not. i dont think you can indoctrinate over the tv, etc. thats why they will never change.

by Black Man inknockin' on doors when nobody's home, processing ten of thousands of hours that u know are fake, refusing to embrace modern-technology to further the work just adds up to the most ineffective public relations campaign of the 21st century---yep, you guessed it the house-to-house work.........

what im saying is that there has been new material published about how important the local bookstudy is, etc when its going to be done away with. so if there is recent stuff about co's, i would really be suprised if they get rid of co's soon.

the new book at the convention talks about bookstudies, so not sure that makes a difference.

What does one need to interpret the Bible?
by insearchoftruth ini have posted some thoughts on this on earlier threads, but the pesky jws have approached my wife about a bible study again, but my wife has let them know that this time she wants to learn how to read the bible and then after she is able to do that, she may consider some of the other books.
i have a couple of concerns about this, firstly, from what i know, the jws consider reading thier literature on a par with reading the bible, in fact i am pretty sure that they will try to lead her back to the bible teach book and let her know that she is in essence getting the same 'food' this way as she would another way.. secondly, if she decides to study the bible, the questions from readers that has recently come out all but prohibiting independent bible study will most likely come into play.
witnessgirl provided a good course on this, let my wife know that we are going to read the bible, not study, which could be a loophole (but i doubt if she asks a jw about that they would see a difference, but my stubborn wife may), but i think my wife would say she wants to study, not read....... a pesky jw provided her with her copy of the insight books and she also has the reasoning book, but i want her to actually feel she can read the bible and take from it what the literature presents in itself, not the slant that any organization or person wants her to take from it, even though if she reads the nwt version (or really any version for that matter) there is already a man provided slant.

when you say question from readers, do you mean the question box in the sept 07 KM? i was not aware of a question from readers about independent study.

Does one person, personify the child-hating spirit of the JW's?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH ini just ask this...becauce last weekend i had a conversation with someone who could not understand why i would leave god, becauce of a person.
you know the whole "would you leave your wife becauce your boss fired you"!
but my take was based on an individual during that conversation, who really illustrates to me what a disfunctional experience being in the organization was.

yeah, when i was a kid this "sister" asked me to do yard work. she had a huge yard. after getting me down in price, she came back later in the day and wondered why I by myself hadn't finished yet. LOL. what a bitch. then she bitches to all her friends about me. if i was a super hero i would not have been able to finish that yard before she got back. what a joke.

How did God do it?
by nicolaou inevolutionists are always called on to explain how a complicated organ like an eye could have come about "by chance" - as if any scientist ever claimed that's what happened.
but there are shelves of books in your library that will explain the process of natural selection, some are written so simply that a child can grasp the basic concept.
you don't have to accept it but at least an explanation is offered.

2050, im glad that you are so sure. i dont know how anyone can say that they know for sure if there is a God or not. what exactly has been proven? that because evolution is a fact, that means there is no God? who made that rule? what exactly has been proven? i have not met many athiests that claim to know for a certainty. if you want to believe there is no God, that is fine. but to claim you know for sure is a little ridiculous, how is that any different then me proclaiming there is a god beyond a shadow of a doubt? sorry bro, im not buying it. being dogmatic on either side is not reasonable.

i'll just tell you a quick story. i used to read about people "getting saved" and i would laugh and think what a bunch of nut jobs. when i was able to determine the changes and perversions in the NWT, obviously Jesus is there after you uncovering what the WTS is trying to cover up. anyway, so I did the whole prayer to God thing that i read about, just like the nut jobs and it was absolutely crazy. i felt was they felt, i was humbled but also happy. now, i used to do alot of drugs, so maybe i am a nut. i know some of you atheists think people like me are crazy, and maybe we are. i dont think i am, but perhaps I am biased, LOL. any i totally felt what the people i would make fun of felt and it blew my mind. if you read alot of the "saved" stories on the net, alot of the have the same ending.
anyway, i really dont like talking about this stuff because i always cringe at it because alot of Christians sound very judgmental and superior to people who are not Christians. not all of them, of course. but there are alot of Christians that embarrass me, especially new earth creationist that try to debate atheists about stuff like the flood and science, etc.
so i usually refrain from discussions like this. anyway, i guess my point is, i am a very skeptical and cynical person and i didnt believe this stuff about Jesus until i did it and was just floored. i will never forget that. heck, if Jesus isnt real, and we just die, I wont know it, lol, so i mine as well believe, haha! -

As Much as I hate to say this,I am glad for have being a J Dub
by SuperApostateGirl ini know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.

yeah, there was alot of good for me. it got me off drugs, got me out of my various illegal activities that would have lead me right to prison. the bad was bad, but the good was good. however i will say the good was in a certain congregation and it might have been based on the fact that i was lucky enough to be in a cool one at the time.
