I remember when Bush won the first time, beating Gore with all the problems in Florida, was itself God's actions steering the events of the world, leading to the great tribulation... so far they are wrong.

it seems like companies are filing bankruptcy as fast as the market can recoup.

never done fluff...but what movies or songs make you cry?
by oompa inya....as you know i am pathetic...a cryer.....oompa.
there are even some andy griffith shows that make me cry..... i wrote a song that almost always makes me cry when i play it....but cant post it as it would totally out me...in case my other revealing threads have not...tired of the game.....oompa.
i know it is pathetic...but sleepless in seattle make me cry...and ya...i love the soundtrack................. .

by caliber ini've lived through some ... a death where my brother caught an elderly lady as she dropped dead while singing !.
a girl in early twenties marries a man (elder) 27 years older ..still married 30 years later !.
an elder is stabbed with a knife.. but it hits his belt buckle.. police called.

Wow it's hard to top off caliber's events... but...
I knew a brother in Chicago area who got married at 20 to a 38 year old! This means they were dating at 18-19! He's 31 now, so she's 49. I know they figured the new system would come before they got too old.

by WildHorses ini have now lost a sister, brother-in-law and a neice and nephew for the simple fact that my political beliefs differ from theirs and i voiced my opinion in a family mailing list.
they didn't even have the courage to do it in the mailing list.

Very good point. The fact is people get shunned, and long friendships are lost for many reasons, and many times very stupid reasons. This helps put a reality check to help deal with losing friends in the cult.

Slightly off topic, but from the stats above, I see the following:
An increase of 3.1% means that the actual growth was from 6,748,644 to 6,957,852 which is a net increase of 209,208 publishers.
If total baptised was 298,304, and total increase was 209,208, does that mean 89,096 (298,304-209,208) have left the faith (or died)? If so, that's a staggering 30% loss!

by oompa inya a beautiful fall day here....trees ablaze with color...and a slight drizzle...me sippin yummy coffee...wife crammin her bookstudy book, then off to meeting and service........god she dresses up a lot!....i fogot how much i did that.....i have about $2000,00 of suits getting dusty in my closet if anybody needs a 42 long btw......so i just asked myself and sooo wanted to ask my wife "why are you really going out in service today?
".......and there are many automatic jw answers:.
1. jesus said we must go and make disciples, and it is the loving thing to do..........2. because the time is short and have to save as many as possible......3. because we love our neighbors ( but i cant frikin have them over for a grillout!).........

Exactly. People to for image, and to make their numbers. Even the 'good' ones who went out with us many times took long breaks. There were times when we were out for '2 hours', we'd spend half or even more on break (of course counting all the time)! What a joke.

HA! I was thinking the same thing! This 'gas price' excuse shows it was complete BS since we're back at prices where apparantely gas prices weren't an issue. Of course people are so glad not to go to book study, no one will question this.
I just hope it adds to the dissonance to the open thinkers...

To be fair, in my congregation they used to always say that if you're contagious, stay home. This was under the premise that you don't want to infect many others causing them to miss meetings too.
So for me, being sick (even mildly sick) was the golden ticket to stay home!

I agree this is sickening. Even when I was 'in' I always felt bad for the kids being pressured to pioneer at such a young age. How can a 10 year old say she 'loves service'?
