Here's another major lie I found in the NWT in the KIT bible. Basically NWT says "The wages sin pays is death" but the original greek says "The wages of sin is death". Big difference, NWT says when you die your sins are washed clean, but the original says you die because of sin.

by Chalam inwhatever happened to the kingdom interlinear translation of the greek scriptures?part 1. print/download: pdfdoc.
the watchtower says on page 5 of the 1985 edition of the kit:.
there is no definite article in the greek before the word god in john 1:6, yet the wt translates it god, with a capital g!.

A few Dawkins quotes to think about.
by AK - Jeff in"faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.
faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.".
"my last vestige of "hands off religion" respect disappeared in the smoke and choking dust of september 11th 2001, followed by the "national day of prayer," when prelates and pastors did their tremulous martin luther king impersonations and urged people of mutually incompatible faiths to hold hands, united in homage to the very force that caused the problem in the first place.".

This is my favorite Dawkins quote:
Do you really mean to tell me the only reason you try to be good is to gain God's approval and reward, or to avoid his disapproval and punishment? That's not morality, that's just sucking up, applepolishing, looking over your shoulder at the great surveillance camera in the sky, or the still small wiretap inside your head, monitoring your every move, even your every base thought

July 15th WT- Don't Research " False Stories " - Inspired by Satan !
by flipper ini know the poster lost generation made a fantastic thread on this july 15th apostate article, however - i noticed some very powerful points on pg.
17 paragraphs 9 - 11 which weren't brought out that i feel needed to be touched on.
as was brought out in his thread this article told jw's to avoid apostates because they are " mentally diseased " allegedly and to avoid their web sites, not read their literature, watch t.v.

The great thing about articles like this is that it brings to attention things, these stories, that many would never have thought about. It's like saying "Don't think about elephants", well after saying that everyone is thinking about elephants.
On that note, it will arouse the curiosity of some. I always felt that way. "If it's false, then what are you worried about? What are you covering up?" That's exactly how I felt. Now, I was brought up with parents who immigrated from Eastern Europe and my non-JW dad instilled in me a certain distrust of authority, to think freely and not believe what you are told at face value, and to call out propaganda when you see it. In my case it helped!
For the GB, by desperately trying to convince people to avoid these false stories, they may do the opposite and make people actually read them instead.

The GB tightening their grip! Straw to break a camel's back?
by punkofnice ini post on a couple of forums and read and lurk and all that stuff.. a theme that seems to be gaining momentum is about how the gb are 'tightening their grip' and 'becoming more cultish'.. i don't read the publications anymore and oddly i read extracts of them on the forums.. punk is babbling now.............sorry...................my questions are (sorry if they're a bit long.
sorry if i sound like satan: 'is it really so?
' but then i am a mentally diseased apostate).. 1. are the gb really tightening their grip or is it just the same as it ever was........but..........we just notice the propaganda more now we're out?.

Baltar 447 said "to the point of idolatry IMO" . That was my opinion in 2008 when I left, I felt they were demanding worship, and were claiming a position that only belonged to Jesus.
I have to say that this was one of the key areas of dissonance I had that made my mind break free. There was so much GB worship it felt SO wrong. Once I broke free it was only then I went to the internet to do further research...

I had many doubts piling up, in addition to the fact that I stopped believing in a creator and became an atheist... I remember 2 things that were the final straw:
1) Governing body worship. Every talk, article, prayer, kept talking about the GB. Once an article said that if you give excessive attention to something (like sports) it is a form of idolatry or worship. This was exactly what was happening to the GB. They were worshipping the GB!
2) Constant mention of JWs in WWII. I always hated when this was brought up, and it was brought up often, because for the ~7,000 JWs that died, they are completely ignoring and disrespecting the 6 Million Jews that died. Once I heard a 10 year old kid give an experience at a CA, and said he told his teacher that Jews died because of their nationality, but JWs died because of their religion! Total arrogance!

I also live in Raleigh. Luckily my part of town just got winds and rain, but no major damage. Saw the news and some parts got destroyed!
On that note, is there anyone else besides Oompa that lives near Raleigh? Always love to meet other former JWs in the area.

Assembly/Convention Accounting
by dontplaceliterature injust having had my circuit assembly recently, i felt that the expenses in a watchtower-owned building seemed extremely over-inflated.
over $9000 for two days.
there were approximately 750-800 in attendance each day.

I would say that the costs are probably more legit than it may seem. You're not paying just for the basic services like electricity and water, but this cost is likely a fully 'loaded' cost. This probably includes the amortized costs for taxes, electricity and other services used throughout the week when it sits empty, probably also paying off the 'loan' from the society who funded the construction.
I'm not a fan of the WTBS as much as anyone else, but this actually seems right, give or take...

WTS - The most inefficient marketing company in the world!
by Robert7 inbusinesses have a known customer acquision cost.
this is the cost of advertising, subsidies, etc.
it takes to add one new customer.

Moshe... Good point. Let's say an average drive in service is 30 miles. This will vary depending on territory...Let's assume one FS day a week, for 40 years.
30 miles x 52 weeks a year x 40 years = 62,400 miles.
If someone is 'good' and goes out twice a week, that's over 120,000 miles.
So yes, that's at least a half a car, if not a whole car worn out in service.

It doesn't cost the WTS one cent, but it costs the people, Jehovah's Witnesses a LOT of money. The WTS is causing its members to spend a rate of, depending on how you calculate the loaded hourly cost, from $10,000 to $40,000 or more per new baptism.
