this was my first time talking to my df'd aunt since i found out the truth about the 'lie'.

i gotta tell you things are really different now.

i almost wanted to get on my knees and beg for forgivness for the way she has been treated by my family for so many years but i was at her place of work.

I'm so glad you are connecting with your non-jw relatives.

It's interesting when I read about experiences like this, people always write of how welcoming, and forgiving, their "worldly" family is.

I have a relative that is in a similar situation as yours. She was Dfed, but got reinstated to keep contact with her very large immediate JW family. I hadn't seen her in over 20 years (since we were kids), due to shunning of my Mother and Aunt, and when she found us (her very devout JW Mom would not reveal any imformation about us when she asked) by sheer chance, we made an effort to make her feel welcomed and loved.

Unfortunately, she still has to lead a sort of double life, but at least she knows there is a place where she is loved unconditionally.

No, I was no privy to any of the behind the scenes goings on with this Danni thing. I was skeptical, but kept an open mind about the whole thing. You made the request for no more discussion on the topic and it was dropped. Because I respected you, and your evenhandedness, I honored your request. Even after all that has transpired, my respect for you has not changed one iota.

It seems to me that you might have misunderstood the first paragraph in my first post on this thread. I, in no way, dispute your opinion of this Kylishhlee. I just remember reading a posted email that she (that is an assumption) is NOT a witness. So much bad behavior this discussion board is blamed on being a witness, or ex-witness, that I wanted to point it out.

At this point, I'm moving on. Older and, hopefully, wiser .

the issue is as old as eden itself, that being: does god have the right to tell us what to do?

that core question, more than anything else, defines what jehovahs witnesses are about, in that we are outspoken advocates and supporters of jehovahs right as sovereign to require obedience from his creatures.

the flip side of that is, of course, rebellion against god, which is expressed in numerous ways and on all levels of society.

For me, this is the very thing that completely obliterates even the most well presented argument that there is any kind of "loving" god/jehovah of the bible. Even as kid, I saw the hypocracy and didn't buy into it.

It brings to my mind the forcing of children, even toddlers, to sit silently through long boring meetings. Squirming or fidgeting is not tolerated. I personally know of an 18 month of child that was beaten because she couldn't (YES, couldn't, NOT wouldn't) sit still in her chair. So, her "loving" Daddy took her to the back and beat the tar out of her. Her sad cries listened to approvingly by her Grandmother who sat in the audience of the hall.

If Jehovah is so perfect then what is the point of this whole juvenile chess game? Why not just create what he desires in the first place?

Why set us up? Just like the JW parents of the 18 month old baby. As her desire to run around and play is natural, so is it a natural human trait to explore, question, and despute. It seems that we are only "good" in the WT's gods eyes when we deny those very traits that he so strongly created in us.

I just cannot except the WTS teaching on this, or most things for that matter. I am so grateful that my own children will never have to suffer like that little girl. I don't believe that some utopian fantasy is going to make the beatings that JW kids have to endure, all worth while.

Well, being one of the skeptics, I am not suprised, yet, I am disappointed that this turned out the way it did.

Next, doesn't this degenerate kylishhlee claim not to be a JW?
So, we certainly cannot not blame her/his/its behavior on being a witness. Now, I did have an exchange with "her" in chat, and "she" did seem very sincere and asked valid questions. However, I know she/he/it monitors this board, and has probably learned how to "act". Unfortunately, this will probably not be the last time a depraved wacko is going to pull this kind of pathetic fraud.

Who is going to pay for this? All those individuals, that might have a similiar situation, in their own lives, that come here for support. Plus, I believe that there are those that try to keep the board in constant turmoil. Instead of resources being spent on supporting and helping those that sincerely need help, we spend it chasing smoke and mirrors. Also, because the hoaxes, I have seen, perpetrated here involve child abuse, when questions are raised about the credibility of the story, we fight, sometimes viciously, amongst ourselves.

I refused, however, to become jaded. This hoax is NOT going to rob from me my compassion towards those that suffered at the hands of the WTS. I will still question when a situation doesn't "ring" right. However, I will keep on open mind so that those in the future that come here for an compassionate ear will not find the discussion board door slammed in their face.

Mickey Mouse & Santa Claus & JWs

ok everyone, i have had this on my mind since i decided to celebrate christmas this year for the first time since i became a jw at 19. i stopped because i was taught it was "pagan" and "idolatrous", and now on thinking clearly and with no jw's clouding my thoughts at meetings, i have reasoned personally, yes, jws will say that christmas is pagan and santa claus is a pagan lie to children.

and christmas is so commercialized and materialism is at it's finest.

yet when i think critically with powers of reasoning i see that though jws don't celebrate christmas, they love to go to disney world.

I get a kick out of teasing my fundy christian friends that because of the GLOBAL spread of everything Disney, that Mickey Mouse has to be the Anti-Christ.

They call Disneyland "The Happiest Place on Earth" (Of course, the world's HAPPIEST people love going there). Everyone is smiling, and the grounds are kept spotless. Then, when it comes time to buy a hamburger, and it costs 6 bucks, the illusion of "happiness" is demolished faster than one can say "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E".

WTS and Disney, both businesses need illusion to thrive. A positive public image is of top priority. And both are money making machines concerned with nothing more than their own survival.

BOOK DONATION CAMPAIGN ANYBODY?

i mentioned this topic on sleepy's thread but i'd like to have some input please from others on this board.

what i want to know is this: there are so many books available on the net that have been written by other ex-jw's who have been there and know the truth about the borg (other than rf).

what criteria do stores like barnes & noble and christian books stores use to stock particular book titles?

Very interesting.

I think I now know why when I do a search on my county library system, NO books that have any negative information on the WTS are in the WHOLE system. There are at least a dozen branches. The ONLY book that shows up on the search is the Proclaimers book. Of course, it is located at my local branch.

It makes me want to donate a C of C book just to see what happens.
